Ascendancy Trials in POE2 make the game completely unbearable and unfun.
It is a shame that they made the least fun part of POE1 the Ascendancy Trail. It is very strange to me because they never solved the melee character issue in POE1 why use it as a key feature.
So far POE2 is not that fun which is a shame. It is still beta so they have can still change their mind. |

75 Titan here. I'm ready to drop the game entirely because of this 3rd ascendancy from Trial of the Sekhuma. I have a slow swinging warrior meant to take hits and deal them in close quarters. Why am I being forced to engage with a take no hits honor mechanic? Why am I wasting my life playing Frogger? I want to fight mobs not dodge childish puzzles for the 50th time. Why is there no checkpoint? When the trial is lost why does it need to consume the token? This game mode does not respect my time at all and is the least fun I've had playing in my ~120 hours so far. I'm done playing my warrior and any endgame for the time being. Was there any thought put into melee character design with this? Why does the trial of chaos not allow for attempts at the same level? One baffling decision after another.

No vision of the next room
Merchants have 1/2 stock You regain 1/2 honor Skill speed 15% reduced. 1/2 sacred water. Still in trial 2 Total crap ! You do want people to play this game right? I cant think of a better deterrent. Random afflictions to cripple melee characters. Last edited by Jitter912#4278 on Jan 26, 2025, 12:33:24 AM

As a level 44 monk i can fairy easily deal with most of the modifiers but if i get the three headed chimera boss i literally cannot break the bosses energy shield once it goes into phase 2 it flies off literally the second the energy shield breaks it flies away and by the time i can run to it the energy shield has already regenerated making the boss quite literally impossible to beat so at this point the trials are just rng to see if i can get a good set of modifiers and then to top it off i have to get lucky enough to fight the right boss who i can actually possibly kill. and on the note of bosses the trials of chaos bosses are the most poorly designed in the game with long immunity windows and and incredibly bad attacks that are almost a death sentence from literally any of the chimeras dot ground breath attacks to the tornado that has almost no starting animation and if you get stunned at all during the attack it its an almost guaranteed death. the current state of the trials is a sloppy mess and needs to be addressed asap.

I used to be on the same page, And I sort of still agree Trial of Sekhemas is dogshit. But after the recent Dev video, hearing them say that its supposed to VERY difficult and a massive jump to get the last two points, when compared to the others it makes a lot more sense why it seems tough.
In the video they explain its not meant to be an easy walk through like the previous which makes sense. Also its honestly not that bad once you get the hang of it, and get some better gear, you will start to see. I get now why some of the most expensive gear in the game comes from there and why people spend all day doing Trial runs, it is a money maker once you figure it out. But figuring it out is the difference between real gamers and fakes Also if it was ''That Hard'' They wouldnt have one of the most expensive pieces of armour drop from a run where you only have 1 Honor. It needs some work, but even now its completely achievable, especially with some of the broken ass builds out there Last edited by I AM xSNIPERx#8073 on Jan 26, 2025, 1:43:05 AM

As terrible as both the Trials are, the Chaos Trials are clearly the more terrible.
Simple because you cannot approach the Trials of Chaos with any kind of strategy and planning and fore-thought. Trials of Sekhema you can apply relics to assist you and change aspects of the Trials and it's monsters. You can buff yourself and debuff the mobs in some broad or very specific ways. You can give yourself higher defences, more honour resist, higher honour levels, more movement speed, longer dodge roll distance, increased damage etc. You can give the mobs less life, less crit, make them slower, make traps less damaging, make rares more fragile, make bosses do less damage etc etc. A lot of options here and if you run the first Baraya enough times, you can gather up all these relics yourself and not need to trade. You have infinite attempts on the first Baraya. The Trials of Chaos have none of that and you cannot prepare for any of the debuffs and the entire thing is dependent on your ability to implement the OODA loop quickly and proficiently. A Mechanistic trial with almost zero strategic element. I hope that in the actual Act4 and beyond, that GGG dramatically rework Trials of Chaos and / or consider a different type of Trial for the official campaign. |

"But figuring it out is the difference between real gamers and fakes"
If you think playing a slow melee character through Trials is the same as a ranger or sorceress I have no words. Between the RNG required and lack of respect for any players time it's funny statements like this that make the POE playerbase insufferable. |

The first 4 points were tough and I felt accomplished after getting them. Trying to get my 5/6 points has been not fun at all. The items you need to run them don’t drop as often either.
Given the time investment you have to make to run through the levels then end up losing, personally doesn’t work for me with the limited time I have to spend on the game. For those that don’t mind or enjoy this great. I’m sure GGG will continue to look to make it more accessible for plebs like me.. |

I don’t understand what the problem is that people have with trials of chaos. It’s easy. Sekhemas otoh I truly despise.

Very frustrated with trying to get third pair of ascendancy points! I don't mind the trial itself so much, although I'm running a speedy ranged character, so most of the trial rooms are not too bad. But the drop rate for the tokens is terrible - even farming them with the alleged 40% increase from the Atlas passive resulted in nothing for hours.
I don't mind it being hard, but please increase the drop rate so I can actually attempt it and learn the strategy! |
