River Hag bubble mechanic feels out of place
I'm going to start this post by saying this is just my understanding of the mechanic, because it goes off before I can mouse over the debuff to understand how it works, which is it's own problem. But a mechanic which completely ignores all buildable defenses (except arguably movespeed) is a huge source of NPE when building a tanky character and feels unintuitive to the gameplay loop thus far. I know not to stand in the bad, and that doing so will hurt. But I can build to mitigate most things. Here the survival options are completely binary. Full health or dead.
Add to this the fact that River Hags are a common trash enemy who nerf your only means of survivng their mechanic (movement) and an already unpleasant mechanic gets way, way worse. The bubble, if it stays, should do damage, not insta-kill. High damage is fine! Just don't make my character build invalidated by a trash mob. Last bumped on Jan 27, 2025, 8:29:40 AM

Their mechanics are too frustrating to be so common. I can accept magic/rare enemies with mods that require careful attention and movement to avoid death, but a cluster of normal River Hags is a disproportionate (i.e. unrewarding) dance of tedium. |

" It's not that bad, I'm playing melee and died to it once because I was curious. |

Ashgan9, that doesn't change my overall point. I'm talking about consistency of game mechanics and how they interact with builds. It being possible to overcome does not mean it should be there.

Surely this is a bug right? Sure one or two of these things isn't an issue in the campaign but in endgame maps with league content they can't possibly expect us to avoid X of these mobs with Y increased projectiles while doing Z mechanic that makes an entire screen worth of things you need to avoid and monsters/skill effects. This attack literally is more punishing than any pinnacle boss or omega juiced rare in the entirety of Path of Exile and it homes in on you...

It's not not a bug, the debuff says it will kill you if you stay in it. That said, IT IS NOT A GOOD MECHANIC for all the reasons OP already said.
Another reason why this bubble's mechanic sucks is because it is considered a debuff. Normally, you want to get rid of debuffs as quickly as possible, so getting sources of "Debuffs on you expire x% faster" is a good option. However, against this bubble debuff it just means you die faster. This mechanic is truly out of place. |

I don't mind running into a mechanic like this now and then but when you run into like...3-4 of them i just run past them because it's way too time consuming to deal with them. What is this mechanic even doing in this game, honestly other than to just piss off hardcore players? |

It is a bad mechanic not because it kills you, it's because it also slows you to a crawl while movement speed is very scarce and it does not work well with body blocking mobs preventing you from leaving the debuff.

Gosh, PoE 1 players are really complaining about every little thing. Yes, you can't play with your eyes closed anymore like in PoE 1. Dangerous but avoidable mechanis like the hag bubbles are what the game desperately needs, because they force you to think, adapt and prioritize. Most players don't want a mindless slogfest, mowing down monsters without ever being in danger while watching a movie on the other screen.
