Trial of Chaos Difficulty
Trial of Chaos is too difficult. I've died more times in this damned trial than I have for all of the campaign up to it. I've made it to the 1st boss once in like 40 attempts and usually I can't even get past the second stage. This ToC needs a nerf, at least for ascendancy purposes.
EDIT: This has made me want to stop playing PoE 2, which is sad because I've been looking forward to this game since the 2019 announcement. Last edited by TurTooL#7081 on Dec 11, 2024, 12:57:15 PM Last bumped on Feb 21, 2025, 5:51:25 PM

It is. I barely did the first pass (4 areas) in the mid 50s while the mobs level was about 35. Incredible.

Yeah my friend had to outlevel it and be lvl58 to do the lvl38 tutorial trial. On a meta build. Because apparently 1000 hp still isn't enough, he got oneshot by the bird boss that stands up on 2 legs at around mid lvl40s so he had to come back when he was in Act 3 cruel lol
If you need to be 20 levels above a tutorial trial for your class's ascendancy points, something is definitely off here with the difficulty. Not to mention all these ultimatum mods in each room are tuned for maps yet you pick them in campaign, they should all be -50% effectiveness or more in the lower trials. Because they're designed to be seen only in maps in PoE 1, where you already have your character figured out and you're powerful. A lvl38 character in PoE 2 doesn't come anywhere close to that kind of power level. Getting stuff like "enemies always crit" is insane. "Volatile Dead" is also busted atm and gives you 0 chance to dodge the explosions. You can get hit by enemies while stuck in animations like putting in a soul gem or clicking a lever. You can get hit by the invulnerable ghost that applies Ruin while in an animation. So much is wrong with this trial. I feel like they just stuffed Ultimatum in the game with 0 thought and barely playtested it and thought it would be fine. Turns out it was not fine. |

The other trial was fine, but the Trial of Chaos is just completely insane. Sure my gear is super bad, but I am still doing fine in story progression on higher levels. Those modifiers are just nuts and they are stucking on top of each other. I did like 10 attempts and couldn't get behind the 4th stage with the birds. The irony is that I went to do the trial to gain another source of damage to be able to defeat boss in the Molten Vault before magma reach me.

" Yup, exactly this. I'm already in ACT2 Cruel, easily passing through bosses as well, yet a lvl38 Trial is still a challange. I can reach the boss more times, but due to the insane mods, I still get oneshoted (Electric Deadeye Ranger) |

Have anyone tried the shade that applies Ruin? I want this shade to pursue the devs who made it so insanely broken. It attacks frequently, fast and in AOE. As a melee fighter you just cannot do a shit except for dodging... It seems like no one tested this trial within campaign. And on top of that - if game chashes (and it does so every 1-2 hours) - you will loose WHOLE progress and rewards which is a shitty gameplay. I defeated the boss on 4th stage and it dropped some good loot and unique item on top. And guess what happened? Yes - game hanged when I was trying to pick up the loot...

Worst part is that the difficulty is entirely rng.
You get kill the monsters or survive for 1 minute - easy mode You get collect 4 soul cores or escort the statue - nasty AF |

" for me, survival is almost unplayable. waaaaaay to many mobs. if i stand still just long enough to cast a spell.. i die.. i basically have to dodge roll non stop for the full 90 seconds. |

Not saying this to mock you, but if you're not having any issues with the campaign, just skip the trial and move on; come back to it later.
I didn't even bother doing it on my Monk until around level 50, after getting multiple bricks to the face on my Ranger at 38. I was so strong that I didn't need to ascend to be successful, so when I did finally go, "Oh right, I forgot to do that," at 50-something the whole thing took me about 15 minutes. That gear that at-level is top-tier to do the trial with is a lot easier to get 5-10 levels later on where it's common. Last edited by ReggShanks#0071 on Dec 15, 2024, 9:14:28 PM
