I am so stuck on Act II boss, that I may stop playing

Quitters never win and winners never quit. Seriously though look at your level; your gear; your skills. Take accountability that you likely did something wrong and fix it. I struggled on him too; but once I used the vendor and some orbs to upgrade my gear it was very easy. You should probably have all rare armor and weapons close to your level with 5 affixes by this point in the game tbh. If you are hoarding crafting mats you shouldn’t be.
I was stuck on Jam as well as a sorc. I got to him like 3pm and tried to kill him to 7pm. Then I decided to gear up better and over level for 3 more hrs. Woke up next mourning at 5am and spent another 3hrs trying to kill him until I finally beat him.

I was very frustrated. It was no like I could go back to a area farm and come back. I decided to spend all my exalts. And I learned that I need to gear up spend all my exalts to be as strong as possible because these bosses are like heavy weight fights against Mike Tyson.

I can say that I think the game is amazing but there are frustrating points. Especially being a new game that is more difficult and punishing than any game the last 20 years.
The biggest problem this game has is that they made the same mistake a lot of devs do when trying to make a soulslike. They made it difficult for difficultys sake. Like, let's use elden ring as an example. Sure, it's a hard game and if you just run in headfirst, it's a similar experience to playing this right now. But elden ring has tricks built in to circumvent difficulty if you want an easier ride. There's weapons literally laying on the ground that you can pick up at lv 1 that will carry you to the endgame. There's areas to gain xp at a ridiculously fast pace and be ready to meet the bosses power level without having to grind for multiple days. There's clever tricks to cheese bosses that make the fights trivial. And against most bosses, I'd find myself dying 3-4 times, but they still felt beatable and felt rewarding when you finally did get through them. And the really frustrating bosses, specifically malenia, elden beast before you could ride torrent in the arena, and consort radhan were either optional or came at the end of the game when you should've been geared up, leveled up. And familiar enough with the gameplay to get through them eventually.

This game so far has all of the vices of a soulslike with none of the virtue. Your only options to get more powerful are either grind for such a long time that it doesn't seem worth it, or just have good rng luck. And that has led to a miserable experience for a lot of us. I don't mind a challenging game, but if I'm gonna put in hours upon hours of my life to "get good"(aka get better gear than the lv5 quarterstaff my lv18 monk is rocking because nothing better has dropped, been gambled, or become available at the vendor), then the rewards need to feel worth the time invested, and they just don't

And I've started on a merc, and it feels a bit more like the challenge I expected, dying once or twice to bosses, but not feeling completely overwhelmed like I'll never push through it. I can understand why a lot of yall that started on ranged are like "what's everyone complaining about lol?". But genuinely the experience on the monk, the class i was most excited for, soured me a lot on the game and actually left me feeling depressed after logging off day 1
game isn't hard though most issues are people don't have the dps or resists.

When I did the act 2 boss my primary skill was doing 6k dps around level 35

obviously if your trying to brute force the thing with 500 dps you'll have a bad time.
It can be difficult if you're not optimised. I found him way harder than act 3 final boss.
You're level 38 in act 2, there's no possible way you're having that much trouble

Thank you everybody for your input.

I made it!

I had to improve some of my armor because it was really not that great. My DPS improved significantly after that :)

600 DPS sure....6 THOUSAND?? No way without receipts. My 33 witch is pushing like 300 dps on her main skill

put frost wall + fortress around boss 3x, drop 2x frost bomb (second wind) then run. once he's frozen hit him with comet or other high DPS skills.

when the frost walls explode around the boss it does mega damage compared to just bomb alone.

also use the trade site to get a +2 cold skills wand. then put on a high block chance shield.

I may be the worst gamer in the history of games, but I have been so stuck on the 2nd act boss, that I am considering just not playing poe2 anymore (I cannot continue the campaign honestly).

I am playing a lvl 38 cold sorc. I have pump my lightning resistance to cap it (the yellow lightning do no damage to me). However, I have only made it to phase 2 once. All my other tries I have run out of red flasks, and not even a fourth of his life was missing.

My approach is to circle him, drop Hypothermia, and frost bombs. I dodge his spears, and I shoot frost bolts at him to freeze him when I can. But his life pool is HUGE, and even if I manage to avoid most of his attacks, I get hit every now and then, specially when he calls his minions during the sand storm (I cannot kill them fast enough that they don't hit me).

I am so frustrated. I have not been that frustrated while playing, and I love all the Dark Souls games (my favourite games). This is just so weird :(
