Chayula Monk Darkness-Gamebreaking INSTANT DEATH bug, UNPLAYABLE (clips inside) (Bug ID #2850271499)

I have been having this same bug (#1) all over the campaign and trying to figure out what was happening, thank you for the post.

I'll have to take a break from monk, too bad it was pretty fun.

We've found what's happening here:

You're not actually getting 1 shot as it may appear in some cases of the clips you posted.

What's happening is ground effects/damage over time effects, such as the burning ground in your clip here: https://streamable.com/6ko15a are making your clients life globe go out of sync with the server when you have the Darkness points allocated. So on the server your life is going down as expected when you take damage, but it's not visually updating on the client. If you use a life flask during these you still should be recovering life, it just won't visually be apparent to you.

I've sent an issue to a programmer to to fix this. When the issue is resolved internally I'll try to deploy a fix as soon as I can.

Oh that's very interesting! Thank you for the update! This resolves #2 and in a very interesting way. Funny how I didn't realize my health wasn't moving until I died suddenly. I can play around this and it means I can keep playing my character until it is fixed, so thank you!

But is Darkness itself also going out of sync (#3)? In a couple of these clips, you can see my Darkness snapping from full to 0 the moment I touch a degen effect. This is actually apparent in the clip you just mentioned. My darkness instantly depletes to 0 the moment I touch the degen.

(EDIT: On further thought, this is almost certainly what's happening, since I never see Darkness draining gradually. It must send the client an update when it actually hits 0.)

Oh also what about Bug #1? Where leftover damage from Darkness-depleting hits skips ES and goes straight to Life? I haven't tried it but I'm pretty sure this would result in instant death if you had Chaos Inoculation.


Thanks again for the rapid update, though. Issues 1 and 3 are minor (1 is technically an advantage unless you are CI), and your explanation of 2 means I can just play around it. Just need to be careful around degen lol.

They dont seem to have a test team. So much of the game has had no testing.
Like really no one at GGG looked at the monk and realized that leech is useless for the class. Leech is on phys damage only and Monk is near 100% ele damage.

Leech is over 1s so the "Instant" part is nothing. 1s is basically instant already.


Yeah bro i guess because of a few bugs in an early access game means there is no testing team, what a muppet.
I have also noticed the issue with #1 where damage bypasses the ES.

This clip shows a slam tanking life and leaving ES up.

Bumping the #1 issue of bypassing the ES because it was not addressed yet.

To repeat I will give an example:

1. You currently have 2k HP, 1k ES, 500 Darkness
2. You get hit for a "large" amount to remove *all* of your darkness and then some, for example 1000 damage *of any type*.
3. Your darkness mitigates 500 of that damage and goes away, as expected
4. The rest 500 of the damage goes THROUGH your ES and deals damage Straight to HP
