How to add friends in Crossplay?

I'm on PC and my friend is playing on PSN. We've both linked our POE accounts. I can't friend request him from PC at all for some reason. He can add me but I never see the invite to accept. How do we make this work?

Looks like the #XXXX don't currently show up in PSN but we found his by having him login to the website. Still seemingly no way to friend each other with this information, though.

You can add him as a friend with just his character name, you don't need his account name. If you aren't receiving any invites from him double check you have cross play enabled in the Playstation settings.
