PoE 2 - Ascendency Honor System Is Not That Good
I think that the honor system actively discourages taking risks and fighting against against harder things. For instance, I play Monk using a Quarterstaff. As it stands now, I have to get hit every now and then to do any considerable damage. If I played to take absolutely no damage, I'd just use my one noodle range ability or only get 1, maybe 2, hits in on whatever I'm fighting.
Add on top of that, all of these bosses will be unique and different, it's an unreal expectation that every player will remember them. I don't have a memory problem and I'm quite good at remembering things long term or noticing a pattern; however, me, and people like myself without memory and pattern recognition issues, are not the majority. The honor system on top of brutally harder bosses makes it too difficult and frustrating of a mechanic to deal with. An alternative that I could recommend, is have the honor system recharge like our energy shield does. Not extremely slow where it would take 5 minutes to fill the whole bar back up but a good 30 - 45 seconds for honor to charge up would be nice. An alternative to that would be let it take 3 minutes for the honor bar to fill back up but depending on how much damage you do, it fills up faster. So, essentially, you gain honor passively by taking on the challenge in the first place. While at the same time, if you do any amount of damage, the more the better, it makes your honor recharge faster. I think 45 second recharge from 1 -> full would be a good middle ground. It's fair for players with memory issues, melee players can fight while getting hit and back off if they take too much damage but regain it back, and all players benefit from being able to take on randomized challenges and unfair chain combo's. Its a miss for me too, I know a lot of people will just say mad cause bad, but I don't want to have to be that good at the game just to get my ascendancy... I am ok with failing the run if you die, but imo failing the whole run cause I got hit too much is complete BS and not fun.
