PoE2 - Xyclucian boss clarity issues
The poison puddles that he spreads are basically invisible.
Frost attack also has some clarity issues as far as where the attack's zone is, but not nearly as bad as the poison. The attack that actually spreads the poison puddles can/does hit you even when you're behind him or slightly off of to the side of his back which, at least visually, look very wrong, his tail is above you, not coming below you from the ground so hitting from that angle is bad visual/clarity vise. To add to this, the chimera's AI feels off. I've no problem with the boss design highly encouraging ranged damage for the fight. I take issue with how long it spends flying. Is it supposed to be invulnerable to ranged attacks while in the air? And why is it breathing fire while slowly flying towards me when we're at significant distance? That's a move intended for close-range to further punish players standing in melee range on a clear ranged boss fight.

We cannot attack it while it's in the air. I don't think the boss is more or less intended to favor ranged compared to the other bosses. It's simply meant to make you suffer from not destroying its pillar fast enough to make it vulnerable for a while.
As for the fire breathing towards you even if you're at a distance, I don't see how it is a problem really... It's easy to move around if you're not already in melee range. It sure looks odd with it coming slowly at you, and it could be perfected, but it gives you time to reposition for the next slam. I honestly never saw the poison puddles. If they're green, that might be why : I'm using gas arrow, and green over green over green means... green. Visual cues are an issue with a lot of bosses attacks. Our attacks are sometimes too similar to what the mobs do, and you can't tell which is which when there's a lot of action going. Last edited by pyrocyborg#0256 on Dec 10, 2024, 5:00:54 PM
