No it's not.

1st Ascendency: Act 2 Sekemas
2nd Ascendency: Act 3 Chaos

3rd Ascendency: Act 2 (Act 5) Sekemas (3 rooms cleared / 3 trials / key that says 3 trials)

I completed FIRST Trial of Ascendancy, interacted with Keth Stone, Balbala Merchant, Sacred Water-->Keys-->Cache.

Return to Town via TP to sort loot.
Ascendancy instance closes after 8-15 mins per Loading Screen Tutorial.

Quest is still Active and instructing me to choose Ascendancy at Waypoint Icon
Ascent to Power-->Use the Altar of Ascendancy to choose your Ascendancy.

1. Where, How-to locate Altar of Ascendancy?
2. Do I have to do all over again? Am I missing out something?

Just bugged out for me too in Cruel

Balbala was supposed to drop the green coin, she dropped a white 1-use coin and the quest got stuck on "Search The passage".

This is weird as hell. I don't know what to do as well.

-Ascent To Power - Search Traitor's Passage quest is there and nothing happens. I already searched the whole map and killed the boss.

Same issue. Just beat Balbabas and got the one-use Djinn coin instead of the green one in Cruel mode. Stuck on "Search Traitor's Passage".

The fact that they immediately throw you into Cruel instead of allowing us to go fetch our totems is poor design and it's likely the cause of this.

Also, I skipped the chaos trial in normal because it was a) way too hard, and b) bugged to hell. Didn't seem worth my time to bang my head against that wall. Everyone is saying we have a choice of which one to do anyway.

Might be helpful if they would simplify this. Ascendancy is a mess right now and people's least favorite part of the game. The ENTIRE concept needs to be reworked, preferably by someone more competent.

UPDATE:
I went and removed all of my relics from the previous ascendancy (Chaos) and also the relics from the Act 2 temple on normal (just to be safe). Then I went and killed Balbabas again. IT DID NOT WORK. She dropped no green item or regular Djinn coin.

This is so broken. It seems like they are forcing us to do Trial of Chaos first.
