Finally uninstalled PoE2... the wave of relief is crazy!

I can respect wanting to find some of your own gear, but if you don't want to trade for your gear, doesn't that naturally follow that you can't get the highest level gear unless you're at the highest level yourself?

It can't be true that you want your own items if you want items that have stronger mods than your level would allow. Are you proposing that mid level players should be able to roll expert armor with all tier6+ mods? Why take the game up to level 99 at that point?

Exalts are a gamble, yes- but the only way they could be more reliable and still have the gotta find loot feeling is if items to gamble on were rarer, not more prevalent.

Who said I wanted high tier items? I just don’t want my level 20 scepter to be better than everything I’ve found up till mapping. There’s an enormous ocean between “give me higher tier gear than I’ve earned” and “using the same gear throughout the entire campaign despite picking up every scepter that drops and slamming plenty of regal/exalts trying to craft an upgrade and getting nothing.” At least for minions there are enough “required” stats on some slots that using significantly underleveled gear is better than using gear that didn’t roll +minions or spirit.

Fair, I suppose, I just sort of accept it as a staple for the genre. Generally you spend as few resources as necessary to keep up with the content until late game, where you enjoy a boost from your saved resources with the best gear. It's a concept shared with many MMO's and most diablo-esque games I've played.

"Good" gear for your current level often involves higher tier mods for that equipment that don't come with much frequency until you generate a higher item level unless you craft it on there with omens and essences and the like (which are themselves predominantly a late-game map resource).

The entire genre, not this specific game, generates the drive to achieve higher/max level by gating better drops behind those higher levels. What would you propose as an alternative without undermining the entire structure that PoE2 has embraced up front with their genre tag (and their company name, to boot)?

Yeah, it is true. But, the actual RNG reality in PoE 2 right now is frustrating AF.

We get the bases and try to make something usefull to be faceslapt/ trolled by affix/suffix like

Reduce Requirement Levels
4 Mana gain on Enemy Killed
5 Life gain on Enemy Killed
10 Maximum HP
7 Maximum MP

That sentiment of using a Lvl 20 weapon at level 60 is pretty sucking, not because "nothing dropped" but because in 40 levels nothing better than my lowly level 20 dropped or was RNG gated by an unbalanced crafting system.

I can’t think of a single game in the genre that’s as heavily weighted toward trade being the best way to gear up than poe2 other than launch Diablo 3, and that didn’t last very long. I play every looter arpg that releases, it’s my favorite genre. Virtually none of them feel this punishing for self found players. Self found is significantly easier in say, Diablo 2 or even poe1.

Personally I just want a crafting bench. Let me solve resists with some mediocre bench crafts to hold me over until something truly good drops.

It would be nice if the tier floor raised a little sooner than it did, for sure. Exalts are exalts and if you get a tier 1 with one that's what div orbs exist for, but finding loot with +7 max hp on it at level 50 does feel bad, I'll give you that, and the vendors should probably be embarrassed to sell it. XD

I have uninstalled Diablo IV and World of Warcraft, depriving Blizzard of any further financial support for the time being.

Path of Exile 2 is currently in early access and is an exceptional game. Its quality is expected to improve further. Therefore, I urge the original poster to let the door close on them as they leave.
One initial thought that may defend the other (the 2 reps from GGG of the interview) side perhaps...their remarks were quite intentional (despite the lack of empathy), and it was in doing so for the best for the future, i.e. prepare those that think there will be change and that it will be diff from PoE1 (end-game/mapping) but he already knows it's a lost cause (currently leaning towards they are in-the-know re. general community sentiments [and perhaps there really is nothing they can/will do]). However, playing devil's advocate, given the past history of PoE1 and what many others have said for their track record - this also isn't anything new in a way...so perhaps this is again no different, and history repeats itself once again (in due time).

To re-iterate (TLDR): post-interview, (personally) my current (until more data arrives from the community/YT/forums/Reddit/etc) bet will side on past history, i.e. "melee < ranged" and "zoom zoom 1-shot" -- so, no real changes from PoE1, essentially (with the main outlier of the campaign for the 1st ~60 lvls or so...lol --- and new melee classes like Druid/Templar/Marauder...lol [bye Warrior...lol {I don't count Monk...lol -- nor minion/Witch...lol}]) -- and timing-wise, I'll just say 2026+ (so, guessing 1 more year of gamedev until full Release post-this EA).

(Post this interview w/ the 2 GGG reps, I just decided to bite the bullet and re-rolled Monk [finally?] for SSF [felt the additional handicap of SSF would help Balance it out...lol. {Merc lvl ~64, Witch lvl 21, Warrior lvl 66 -- considering trying out the Quarterstaff for my Merc -- Re-spec Again...lol -- and yes, will still be on the lookout for future Druid/Templar/Marauder...lol}])
