Feedback on Target Lock
Hello everyone,
I've started PoE2 as warrior and went for Titan but abilities like leap slam-hammer of the gods etc. feels lowkey unplayable with forced target lock. It'd be awesome if we could just disable it and use our skills @cursor. It might be useful for some players/builds/abilities but I think it should be optional. Apart from this, game is just perfect as perfection can be defined. Here is the footage of awkwardness of it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inwrD86eMf8 Last edited by klokravn#1421 on Dec 9, 2024, 9:42:13 AM Last bumped on Feb 16, 2025, 2:30:05 PM

Targeting definitely needs another look.
My Leap Slam sometimes name locks onto enemies and makes me jump backwards or into a direction I don't want to. I have 100% chance to hit but Perfect Strike still consistently misses because the character visually attacks to the side of the target. Attack-in-place also doesn't entirely do what I'd expect it to do. When I cast Leap Slam outside of range my character still walks a noticeable distance and then initiates the windup. If I cast outside of range I expect Leap Slam to instantly start and just jump as far as it will go into the designated direction. So what I need are: - "Free aim" option on a per-skill basis that disables name locking - Name locking to actually lock onto enemies, guaranteeing a hit if the enemy is within range - Skills casting as far as they can go if I target them outside of their range |

+1. This has annoyed me on multiple occasions. 100 % agree with Cocofang's take on what is needed.

Need dedicated lock button, especially for controller.

+1. Please let us manually aim our skills!

I'd also like to be able to disable the target lock feature. If I place my Tempest Bell next to a large enemy and want to hit the bell with my Storm Wave, it is sometimes impossible. The auto-lock will favor the enemy and fire directly at their feet, even though I'm trying to aim directly at the bell, or between the enemy and the bell in order to hit both.
Here's a video example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tmgROPvPoX4 It doesn't even look like it's aiming at the boss's feet there actually, I'm not sure how the aiming works but it's not aiming anywhere near where my cursor is. Last edited by BlacRyu#1539 on Dec 11, 2024, 12:34:17 AM

Agreed, it drives me insane trying to shoot grenades.

target locking is absolutely ruining my experience with monk. that bell is so hard to target at times...
it's absolutely stupid and baffling that after all these years (yes this is an issue in PoE 1 as well) they still never did anything about this.. so many people have asked for an option to turn it off... and the way PoE 2 is made it's even worse here then it was in the first game. |

This feedback is maybe the most important thing to me right now. Feels like you are not in full control of the combat.
