Lag due to CPU spikes in Path of Exile 2.

https://imgur.com/a/GRMPjwV

Around every 2 second a CPU spike (visible in the clip)

They go from barely noticable to noticable lags (barely noticable in the video) Example: 6-25ms spike (barely noticable). 6-150ms spike (noticable lag)

Some (unknown) triggers make them worse. Alt tabbing, loading new zones, going back to town. Can be a way to consistently make the issue worse.

The spikes develope. When they get worse they stay worse. Once i get 6-150ms spikes they dont go back down.

Relogging resets them.

Spikes become visible when hovering over items in chat (visible in clip)

I tried every game setting and some task manager settings to solve the issue. Nothing solves it.
Of course running DirectX12 with Multi Threading On. I have Triple Buffering Off.

I have tried some Task manager priority settings as well, no success.

Cpu: i5-12600kf
Gpu: Rtx 3070
Ram: 32gb

When playing (not idle) i have 40% CPU and 90% GPU ultilization shown on the Task Manager.

Other players have reported the same issue.

This might help you my friend. It just helped me!

Welcome to CPU C States!

Actually i may have found the root cause: Its chat messages.
Iam able to recreate massive cpu lag by simply quickly enabling and disabling chat in the options.
Iam usally in Global 1 and Trade 1 (though hidden). Now if i go to another global/trade that nobody uses my spikes disappeared. So far this is the only things that made the spikes disappear and it also explains the strange intervals of the spikes. Every time someone writes a message in chat you get a massive cpu spike. There may be more to it but i think thats it.

Bro.... Read the reddit post i posted.

That is because of C states... Your cpu is constantly dropping power even on Performance mode. Which is fine in normal games, but POE is different.

The post I posted will fix cpu spikes.
Just look at the screenshot in the reddit post.

putting your computer to 100% usage non-stop should not be a solution. i feel like ggg should finally do something about this problem, it must be caused by something and it only appeared after a certain "performance update".

it's sad to see poe2 is still suffering from this problem. love the game but when the spikes start to happen it's just not a lot of fun.
have you check your cpu temperature ? maybe it is just simple as that your cpu is running to hot ...
This realy is an anoying Problem. Even with 190fps when framerate is not capped. Or 60fps capped.
The Stutters are always there. I wont 100% my cpu vis powerplan. This might work yes but its no option.
I searched the Internet but it seems GGG will not comment on this ever. So they probably dont know how to solve it, maybe not even working on it anymore.

Holy... You're a genius. I wasn't using any chat they were always off but I wanted to give it a go since I'm desperate at this point. I activated both global and trade chats, they were on relatively busy channels in the background, like trade channel 1 or 2. I changed them to 150 or something and no more cpu spikes anymore. Thanks a lot! I don't know if it works for everyone but this message should be spread imo.

FWIW I had the exact same issue, found this thread, and this resolved the issue for me. The CPU power issue may be it for others, but I essentially turned off chat by going into unused channels and the CPU stuttering went away. It's at least worth a try for people having the issue and is a quick/easy attempt to fix it before messing with your CPU/power settings.

Thank you! It's the chat messages, changed to random global/trade, and it's fixed.
