Always-Attack-Without-Moving needs to be back in PoE2/fixing
" Except it does not work on most of mercenaries skills. Even if you toggle a shortcut it doesn't work. |

<< Ice Strike has this same problem... >>
Regardless of input method (Mouse+Keyboard or WASD), your character ignores the SHIFT key for various skills (even with "ATTACK IN PLACE KEY STOPS MOVE" enabled). In POE1 if you hold shift + attack then you won't move. In POE2 if you hold shift + attack then you MOVE if your cursor faces an enemy within “move-range” (for Ice Strike, this is like 1m). So if the mob is right next to you, it might appear you didn’t move. Yet it will move to the mob if it is slightly out of “strike-range” but less than 1m. So if you’re silly enough to hold down Shift + Ice Strike then it basically feels like a mini-flicker strike that won’t obey the shift key. Great if you wanted to move, bad if you didn't. Which is why a person might press the shift key... Thoughts? Prayers? Last edited by krullix#7969 on Jan 7, 2025, 5:00:39 PM

I hate to (kind of) necro the thread, but this thread best expresses what I want to have an option for. Turning on Attack in Place for the skill bound to left click is a start . . . but . . .
It doesn't fully address the problem, at least for me. What I am trying to achieve is that when I left click, the game should ALWAYS use whatever is bound to that skill. Attack in place is close, but not quite there. When you click on the text for an item on the ground, you don't move there, BUT YOU DON'T ATTACK EITHER. I've been killed any number of times because my attack didn't trigger due to an item on the ground. When I click, ATTACK. Not "usually" attack. Not "most of the time" attack. The game moves way too fast. That split second it takes to find a better place to click will kill you. What would be even better is a contextual / smart version. If I am in combat (something is aggro'ed on me), always attack - ALWAYS. If nothing is aggro'ed on me, move. Last edited by Banditman#8769 on Feb 15, 2025, 10:05:31 AM

" EXACTLY, you are on point. This is a genuine issue, and the only solution is to not use your primary skill on left click, either way this shouldn't be the case, ever, and even in Path of Exile 1, this wasn't the issue, left click attacks always registered. Also, It's not just the ground items, if you hover over NPC's, pots, chests, or any interact ables, the same thing happens, the character completely stops. |
