POE 2 - Immediately Crashes before Log-in/Title Screen

open command prompt and type in "winver"
if your Version is 24H2 you are in bad luck. 24H2 is prone to have issues atm with video games. I reverted back to 23H2 (re-installed) which seems to be the only option.

Before that you can try the PackCheck.Exe in YourDrive:\somePath\PoE2\PackCheck.exe

validating steam files (which you probably did already)

I don't see a packcheck.exe in my game file?



To add to this fun experience, I did get an error message today:
"The exception unknown software exception (0xe0000001)
occurred in the application at location 0x00007FF9122ERB4C."

Same as everyone. Been having recurrent crashes during os shortly after the gears screen back to back to back. Managed to play fine on the first day, after that, game crashes at least once before I manage to log in and play, but it's still sort of random when I get past the crash. Validating files on steam sometimes help, but not always either.

Playing on controller, found out that spamming A button from the game start until the character screen has more success than not, but the game still crashes once or twice (sometimes more) before I get in.

After I get in, no issues whatsoever until I quit the game.


Windows 11 ver 23H2
Ryzen 5 5600G, 32Gb Ram, RTX 4070 Super 12Gb, DX12 (tried Vulkan and DX11 too, no difference in crashing/not crashing)

* EDIT: Just read about deleting/renaming the file \Documents\My Games\Path of Exile 2\poe2_production_Config.ini and so far, it worked (renamed mine, always keep backups in case). Had to redo most of my options, but so far, game is initializing first time without a hitch.

i ran my computer through the ringer looking for the "problem" and have resorted to clean installing windows, wiping out my computer.

trying to set it up now etc etc, will advise if this horrific extreme decision fixes the problem.

Got this problem after playing 2 weeks, PackCheck.exe thing helps me, it find corrupted files and repair them so game works fine now

Look for auto HDR in windows and disable it if it's on... trying to see if it's the essue, me and my friend did it and... no crash for 1 hour.
