Leap Slam on Controller

Currently Leap Slam (and possibly other area-targeting skills, I've yet to play another class) will always jump the minimum distance when there are no nearby enemies and when playing on a controller, only seemingly increasing it slightly when targeting enemies. This limits its general utility, both outside and inside combat.

Suggestion: keep current behavior, but allow holding down the ability key to also increase the range by which it targets the ground/enemies. This would also likely solve similar issues for skills that have similar mechanics.

Yeah, they need to do something with it. I dont know how it was in PoE1 as I played it on pc, but in d4 when you use it it goes in the direction you are facing on max range or something like that.

I know it will never be as good as it is with a mouse, but at least you should be able to use it when there are no enemies at max range.
Couldn't agree more - was so disappointed when I saw how this worked on controller after getting used to using it on M&KB. I prefer playing with controller and I really hope they change this behaviour.

Was pretty excited to play PoE2 on controlles since I prefer to use it over K&M but that leap slam is pretty painfull. It's utility is basically non existant outside of combat and even during combat it's not that great.

maybe make it dependent on button hold time to adjust range

please fix it !!
I heard there is a skill option to change how it works, currently at work so I don't know how to do it/haven't tested it. I heard its buggy but its better than the minimum distance jumping thing
there's an option but it's clunky, like there's a big blue circle around you that is showing the range but it does not stay center around your character (on pc) wich is totaly weird tbh. it SHould stay center on you as long as you hold. Not the only skill that could be better with controller hopefully they look into it.
If you enable the held targeting button in skill options of leap slam , you will get a big circle and a litle sphere inside that circle which you can move with the right joystick while holding the button of leap slam ( i bound it to right trigger cause it is much more comfortable for an xbox-like controller )

This is mostly fine , takes couple of tries to get used to it but the real problem comes with auto targeting , since we cannot disable auto targeting of the mobs , when you are getting surrounded and want to leap towards an edge of the screen but you are still facing the mobs behind due to the autotarget feature , your big circle radius forms behind you instead of the direction you are running wich is in front of the feet of the char and so you limit the blue sphere right on top of you while kiting , which is bad .

There should be a fix in the form of making you right in the center of the big radius so that the blue sphere that you move to target where the leap will land originates as well from the center and increase the acceleration of the sphere being controlled by the joystick to move it quicker from side to side inside the big radius

Either that or allow us to disable autotarget in game settings or make it that when the skill option of a skill has Enable held targeting it stops autotargeting . This would also work since you'll be facing the direction you are moving and can leap out of danger quick , but the first one should be better when getting surrounded .
PLEASE FIX THIS
