High CPU Usage and Low Performance in Path of Exile 2
hey folks,
Another bump. Got the same CPU spikes issue and ofc fps drops. I also got the PC freeze issues but got it fixed by updating my GPU drivers + changing the render to Vulkan. Seems okay now at least with the crashes. PC specs: CPU: i5-12600KF GPU: RTX 3060 Ti RAM: 32GB NVME SSD |

Now i'm losing 2-3 FPS every step I walk...

Some settings that helped me a lot:
Set threaded optimization in Nvidia control panel to off. Disable dynamic resolution in the game. In my case Vulkan + DLSS performs the best, DX12 + DLSS looks the best (surprisingly better than native). Disable reverb and set sound channel to medium. Disable chat windows in options, type "/global xxxx" and "/trade xxxx" (xxxx = random number) to join empty channels. Go to %APPDATA%/Path of Exile 2/ and delete DirectX3D and Vulkan shader folders. Set shader cache in Nvidia control panel to disabled, restart your PC and set it again to 100 GB. Make sure the game's exe is recognized as installed app and set to high performance in Windows apps (system-display-graphics-apps-add desktop app). Windows should have fast startup disabled. Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options = choose what the power buttons do, change settings that are currently unavailable. In power plan settings, disable PCI power management and USB suspend. Try to disable HAGS and game mode and see if it helps. Turn off Game Bar. |

Bump.
I'm pretty much done at this point as doing any worthwhile mechanic or juiced maps drops me down to an unplayable 20FPS and I keep dying, especially now that on-death effects are back. I absolutely love the game, but playing with this performance is a horrible experience. | |
Quick and impactful suggestion for AMD GPU users: Disable Anti-Lag, disabling it gives around +15% FPS, apparently Anti-Lag limits CPU, I didn't notice any perceived change in lag or input delay, also my game seems to be stuttering far less now. It's overall a significant positive change.
There has to be a Nvidia equivalent of Anti-Lag, maybe disabling that will help in this regard in a similar way. |

like many, once I reach the end game, my fps are no longer stable (even in low graphics) It's very unpleasant and tiring for the eyes.
None of my friends have smooth gaming either, even with big configurations. In multiplayer it's sometimes just unplayable. I can't even imagine on ps5/xbox, and worse in "couch-co-op" |
