Killed act 1 boss and died at the same time

Loot drops on the ground after we both die. A conversation is happening while the resurect button is up. I come back to the battle ground and.....

The loot is gone. Three rare items...

What is up with that? Shouldn't it be just, to get this loot?

I've experienced the same or similar issue a couple of times. In general, loot on the ground tends to dissapear when you die.
