Party play scaling is really harsh for duos.
I find duo play much MUCH faster than solo, and I consider solo easy - link skills aint even out yet.

+2 to duo scaling feeling weird. Warrior and Merc, took us 3x longer to get through campaign, because everything is waaaaaaay tankier than just solo it. Running my 5th char to endgame is so easy, but as soon as my buddy joins, we suffer. Something is off with the scaling

Agree with this. Solo, everything falls over, party its like 5-10x more hp & damage/mobs.

feels more like +100% hp and +50-80% loot/(quality?)
I find more than 3x as many divines in duo Farming salt on the forums since 2024

Me and my friends are also finding this even in lower level play. A boss you can easily solo separately becomes impossibly difficult when playing together. For example, Balbala in act 2. We all went in together, got wiped consistently. Separated, each player had no problem with the boss. I can get they want it to scale, but the curve basically means playing with friends is actually discouraged.

I have had the same experience as OP, when grinding out characters with my son, my level 70 monk feels nerfed when I try to play with him. It feels like there may be some type of scaling feature based on the characters level and damage output.
Perhaps this is intended to keep people from getting carried? |

Upping this as after 3-4 class swaps and clearing acts 1-3 multiple times (even the awakening trial twice), now the co-op is even harder and had to stop playing with my hubs. Not sure what changed, but it feels incredibly frustrating!

Duo'd off and on from start to citadels. It sucks. Everything is harder/riskier and the reward is cut in half. It's just dumb.

I just want to second this notion.
I played on and off with two friends from early game to endgame and during the campaign we often ran into roadblocks, that turned out super easy when we played solo. now doing T12-15 maps alone is easy for all of us, but when we play together it's slow and full of risks with no apparent rewards added. the three of us played thousands of hours of Diablo 2 together, which the devs of PoE are supposedly fans of. In D2 the benefits of coop play are easily calculated and very noticable, from loot to xp to class synergies. In PoE2 it feels like the devs despise people with friends. except for some synergies with builds, it feels like every aspect of the game works better solo. from long revive times during campaign, to honor being deducting for all players in trials, to waystones only dropping for the player who opened a map and the map device only being accessible by the hideout owner... everything is worse in coop.
