Attack in place key stops move bug

i believe attack in place key stops you from casting for a few seconds after pressing, if you cant replicate try holding it and then dragging ur mouse away/clicking away with move command (as if you're trying to move and holding ur stop key) and i cant cast any spells for around 3-5 seconds.
i believe if you dont move after you just cant cast, running from location starts the 3-5 second clock

Yeah I have encountered that as well. Died so many times because of it.

Also happens if you are using the "Move Only" and it is assigned to a key.
Happens with Melee skills as well if you are holding your move only keybound skillslot pressed and then click shift while doing so you are locked out of casting/attacking for 4-5 seconds with any attack or skill/skillslot.
It really feels like they somehow changed how the "Attack in Place" key works in PoE2 compared to PoE. In PoE it just stops you from moving as long as the key is pressed, whereas in PoE2 you continue attacking in place regardless of whether you hold the key down; the moment you click the key you stop moving and start attacking and don't start moving until you hit either the move only button, or click in the screen.

I've also noticed that if you keep the move only pressed and only click the attack in place key it doesn't override the move only. You have to hold down the attack in place key.

It's really weird how its implemented in poe2 and I wonder if this is why the attack/cast bug happens. That it's due to some kind of conflict between the two.


EDIT: Just tested it in POE and the Attack in Place is definitely implemented differently, in fact its almost the exact opposite of PoE2. In PoE you have to hold down the Attack in Place key for it to stop you from moving and start attacking, and when you let go of the key you stop attacking and start moving again.

+1 for me as well when using Mouse & Keyboard input with "W" bound as move-only and "SHIFT" bound to "Attack in Place".
Thanks for reporting. Thought I was going crazy for a bit. It's super annoying for all of us "Attack In Place" users.
Yeah this is super frustrating... died several times due to this bug
Came to this thread from searching the same issue. I'm using Mouse & Keyboard with "W" for my movement and "Shift" for the Attack in Place keybind.
This bug is really frustrating. I do like the idea of the characters slowly moving in the same direction while i shoot my crossbow, looks like im john wick for a second, but when i want to stand still, i want to stand still... not be a sitting duck unable to do anything... i have forever been a player that binds force move to W so im constantly holding W and if i accidentally press W before i let go of shift with that stand still option checked... you guessed it, sitting duck. Please fix this GGG
I just bought the game and as of 12/11/24, it is still a bug. Hope they can fix that ASAP because that is my desired playstyle
