Massive Latency Spikes

Same issue here. I tried all different network modes (auto, predictive, lockstep) and checked my ping to servers in Frankfurt (it's fine).

Now that I get to bosses that are challenging, this makes it unplayable.
I think we've got a fix. At least so far its made a massive difference for me.

Found it on this thread all credit and karma to this guy!

The global and trade chats are spiking cpu use bad and just jamming the game into that filthy hitching.

If I run the full performance graphs I'm seeing my game go cpu bound with a big spike along side the spike in latency.

Fix is: change your global and trade channels to like 49003 or something where nobody will be talking.

Just right click where it says Global and it'll put "global 3" into your text field. Change that to say "global 23908" and hit enter. Do the same with trade.

To replicate this bug is hilariously easy just goto trade 1 with full performance graph on and watch the things said in chat INSTANTLY lag your game :D

I've had this basically since the start of EA. First, I though it must be the GFX. I tried all the different settings, but 4090 kept fps around 80-144 just ok. Then I read that some people had stuttering because of CPU, but my 12700 hovers around 30-40% even while I get the stuttering in-game (white graph spiking through the roof).

I tried to change the network setting from auto to predictive and lockstep, but neither fixes the problem, maybe the lagging just changes behavior a bit.

Network trace to the server allocated by the Frankfurt login doesn't look too good:

What do you mean by "network trace doesn't look too good"? You lost only 8 packets from 972 and maximum ping jump was only on 10ms. With this network trace you should have see only 8 lags in 19 minutes of gameplay.
Ms spikes are common. I have good internet connection with optical fibre, normally Ms is 20. Spikes are up to 500. This issue occur depends on location. In some I can't play in some I have 20ms. It seems the problem is on GGG side. Hope will be fixed quickly, as this issue causing the game unplayable.
Server: Frankfurt (20ms)
Same..
Same here.
Getting the same issues as everyone else here. Been like this for 2-3 weeks now and cost me a lot of investment in waystones and time. I followed the trace route instructions from the technical support thread and made a pastebin of my WinMTR results to pore over here. https://pastebin.com/RaX5frJp This happens in maps and campaign zones, across multiple characters, and while choosing different gateways to connect through.

Please review this after your holiday break and make the game playable again. Thank you.

Perhaps this does solve the CPU utilization issues. But this method does not solve network latency problems. I checked it now and there is no change, the network latency is still the same.
I have the same network issue. Been this way for about a week now. Makes the game unplayable. I've even experienced crashes launching the game that require me to hard reset my computer.
hey so we were having the same issue with latency spiking randomly causing the game to lag. Saw someone mention about changing the wifi settings and heres what we did:

we went into
1. Device manager
2. Device properties on the WiFI card eg Intel Wi-Fi 6
3. then advanced tab,
4. then under property select the 802.11a/b/g Wireless Mode
5. Then we changed that from Dual band a/b/g to just 5GHz 802.11a (which was at the top)
6. Click ok and start the game

its working perfectly now for us! woo hoo
