It seems to be worse now with the latest patch.
I tried 3 times to log in tonight and crashed at the loading screen each time. It's frustrating dealing with this on a brand-new PC. I'll wait to come back to playing this until this is fixed.

I launch the game via Steam and click on the screen after seeing the GGG logo.
There is the 2-gear animation and I hear a song.
Then the game crashes. 100% of the time.

Getting old, This has been happening more now than it has. I can't even log in to the game any more with out it locking up my system to a hard boot. I've already lost a old mechanical hard drive due to the hard boot. System wont even see it any more. Good thing it was just a spare i tossed in the computer to store movies. But at this point i have to put the game down. I've made it to maps but did not experience any of the story as any time i went to a new zone or cut scene is when the crash happened.

The engine multithreading toggle has obviously been exposed to players as an option because the game is absolutely unplayable without toggling it off during load screens for many.
What i don't understand is why the devs will not automate this process so affected players can proceed through the game normally without this massive hassle??? Crazy and irresponsible imo

Worse with new patch

After the patch yesterday, I got two problems with POE2.
The first one is entire pc hardlock/freeze randomly. It is more often during boss fight and when the boss changes to a second stage where the terrain or stage switches. (the random pc lockup existed since the game launch last month,I waited 1 month to see if it got fixed. So my charater is sill below lvl 30. Really bad experience, GGG can't solve this issue?)
The second one is a new error to me. I'm getting "unrecognised task serialised by server; missing registration?" error and the game closes when teleporting to team mate.
I also noticed that my 9800x3d CPU usage sometimes goes up to 100% and temp over 90C. It falls down after few secs but then may go up again quite oftenly.
Tried to limit the cpu core usage on the game process seems to help but it can't solve the "unrecognised task serialised by server; missing registration?" error and still crashed oftenly (less pc lockup maybe due to less cpu core usage).
My system spec:
9800X3D, 64GB DDR5@6400Mhz, Win11 24H2, RTX3070 Ti, WD SN850X 2TB

PoE2 Hard Crash is not a Windows 11 24H2 issue.
PoE2 Hard Crash and crashes due to Windows 11 24H2 has no commonality between them.
PoE2 loading screen hard crash has nothing to do with Windows 11 24H2, otherwise the workarounds would not work. Not to mention Windows 10 and other Windows 11 versions are having the same problem...
I do not blame people who come here and tell that PoE2 Hard Crash is a Windows 24H2 issue because their only fault is to trust GGG's "Known Issues" post.
PoE2 Hard Crash is not happening due to an operating system issue.
PoE2 Hard Crash is causing an operating system issue.
PoE2 Hard Crash is not happening due to a hardware issue.
PoE2 Hard Crash is causing hardware issues.
Furthermore, I ask anyone who encounters this problem to please give a negative review for Path of Exile 2 on Steam in a detailed and informative manner so that others be aware of the issue.
These kinds of posts helps nobody. First of all, there are obviously different sources of crashes, and Win 11 24H2 multithreading happens to be the one that impacted me the most, by far. As soon as I installed that feature upgrade I began receiving them regularly. As soon as I rolled it back, I stopped receiving them. So please stop telling people this isn't accurate. Clearly if they add it to a known issues thread people that are much more epxerienced and engaged than you are have found a reason to do that.
First of all the issue has nothing to do with Windows 11 24H2 at all. During the rollback something else has happened that happened to "shift" you out of the Path of Exile 2 code's "thresholds of crash".
By "thresholds of crash" I mean whatever that is in GGG's code that starts the whole resource hog loop. There is something in that code that starts the whole problem interaction, and unless GGG puts it out for an actual expert to see it will never be fixed because these type of things do not happen by accident. Simply put, there is something in Path of Exile 2's code that is not accounting for an important core utilization logic and it is beyond the knowledge of all PoE2 programmers at hand. This is not an accident but rather a systemic problem.
A good example for one such systemic problem is Chinese games and system languages. In case you are not in the know, many Chinese Games such as Tale of Immortal have a problem where the game is unable to be launched or crashes afterwards due to system language being different. (See: https://tale-of-immortal.fandom.com/wiki/Known_Bugs_and_Fixes ). Just like in that case, PoE2's issues are also unrelated to the Windows itself. The problem is how the game's code is interacting with the system. In the simplest explanation: If you are in Rome you must do as Romans do. Although in PoE2's case it is having trouble in both Rome(Windows) and Carthage(Linux).
If this was an accident(such as a vestigial code somewhere messing up the whole) it would have been found out by now, because they should have been able to read through the entire code within these 6 weeks or at worst within these 15 days.
By itself, Windows 11 24H2 has nothing to do with the Path of Exile 2 hard crash issue. If it did the following would not happen with the exact same way and with the exact same trigger:
1) Linux crashes
2) Windows 10 22H2 crashes
3) Windows 11 23H2 crashes
Second, even when they first put up that "mostly Win 11 24H2 issue" portion, we knew it had nothing to do with Windows 11 24H2. At that point both this thread and the other had received wide array of reports that have cleared OS as a cause of crash.
Third I do not think anyone in GGG can be more able than I am in statistics. This portion of detecting the issue via available data has nothing to do with "engagement" or even "programming". This is pure statistics. Saying this is mostly a Windows 11 24H2 issue is like saying dying is mostly a female issue in humans because 51% of the dead humans are females.
Furthermore, I ask anyone who encounters this problem to please give a negative review for Path of Exile 2 on Steam in a detailed and informative manner so that others be aware of the issue and so that we can fight against misinformation.
Again, this helps nobody. All the effort you put into typing out that mountain of text was half to attempt to impress and the other half some hilarious journey of your personal theories. People coming to this thread could be looking for ways to deal with the issue until a permanent fix is found, and rolling back 24H2 100% did that for me.
But go ahead, quote me again with some wall of text and tell people to leave their bad reviews. Have a nice day.

My new years wish is that they fix the game. I'm having fun when it works, but I need POE uncrasher and POE to both be running as administrator. I wonder if they reached out to the creator of Uncrasher yet and get him to help?
