Hard crashing PC locks up

Sounds amazing. In fact a report every 20 minutes. Or go full send and run a full livestream where we can send live feedback.
At this point they should be sending a video or a full and detailed post explaining:

1) What went wrong.
2) What they are doing to fix it.
3) How did this sort of bug managed to avoid detection in their testing period.
4) What they will be doing to compensate players that have been affected by this issue.
5) Estimated time of fix.
6) Whether refunds would be available for those that are no longer interested in playing the game.
I cannot send/reply to direct messages because my in-game character has not finished Act 1.
What to do:
1)Write a short review about the hard crashes in notepad.
2)Copy and paste it to steam reviews, put up a negative review.
3)Copy and paste it to steam discussions, put it up there.

Thats the worry isnt it? Do you want us to wait for damages.

Again cursorTarget#1174 and Pyroga#2822 keep downplaying that POE2 is the only game in recent history that has crashed our PCs in the most reproduceable, consistent, and severe manner.

I'm not downplaying anything. Other games had this as well. This thread reports multiple different kinds of crashes.

What it's not reporting is bricking components.

What it's reporting is emotional responses from individuals that are scared because their computer gets unresponsive and they have to hold down the power button.

That's just the factual information we dispose right now.

GGG is working on it, they're collecting DxDiag, they already posted about the 24h2 Windows version that fixes it for SOME people.

If you're scared, based on your emotional response that it's going to damage your hardware, don't play, it is that simple but don't make links that are not proven as of right now, it is also really simple.

People are surely neutral QQing for GGG to fix a bug that they are working on, depicting them as lazy and not caring.
What do you want? A post every day stating "yup guys, still working on it". That would be so helpful lol. Hopefully JayTwoCents video will make them post more!

I want them at least download dxdiag which they have asked before. That would be a positive sign.
Every time I load a new map it crashes needing to hard reboot PC due to cpu being completely used up, please say something GGG!
Its start makeing not funny....yesterday played 3h no crush at all, today 3x in raw....
I just noticed (or rather had my friend tell me) that the game is currently having a stash tab sale. In other words if you are not playing the game or were busy trying to fix this issue it is possible for you to miss the sale...

"they already posted about the 24H2 Windows Version that fixes it for SOME people" Where did they post this? In the updated known error section at the top of this forum? IF that's what you are insinuating, I would re-word your post.

They have posted -> "Investigating cases where some players experience crashes related to Multithreading and have to restart their PCs. This seems to mostly be for players with the Windows 24H2 update."

All that post is saying is that it seems to mostly be for players with that specific update of Windows 11 HOWEVER they are wrong. I have friends and family that live in the same area as me that have rolled back or haven't upgraded at all from 23H2, and all are experiencing this issue.

They have no posted a fix for anything. They've been radio silent.

As to those who are saying GGG has been working on this for a week, I truly and whole-heartedly believe they HAVE been working on it. However, that does not justify them posting in the "Known Issues" thread and have Timothy_GGG post asking for DxDIAG files only one time without ANY form of communicative update into the process of what's going on.

Even a simple update "Everyone, we are still very much aware of the crashing and locking up issue on PC. We have been diligently working on this issue to replicate or investigate as to what's going on. So far to this point our results are: etc. etc. etc. etc. etc."

SOMETHING. In the meantime, we have had NOTHING. That is extremely bad communication coming from the devs of a game that very well is up to be claimed as one of the greatest ARPG's of all time. Do better.
I created a thread about the radio silence:

I have had some good success with an app called Process Lasso. You can use this to specifically set a rule for the PoE2 process to drop to IDLE priority and unassign 2 cores if the CPU usage rises above 95% for a second, and then remain at IDLE for say, 10 seconds. And then resume normal processes.

Find the tool here: https://bitsum.com/

To do this:

* Open Options, CPU Limiter
* New CPU Limit Rule:
Process match: pathofexilesteam.exe
When CPU use is: 85%
For a period of: 1 seconds
Reduce by this many cores: 2
For a period of: 10 seconds.

I also use ProBalance settings:
Advanced/
Leave all settings except:

Lower to idle priority instead of below normal: Ticked
Ignore all foreground processes: Unticked
Change affinity during restraint: Ticked
CPUs: 2-15 (or how many cores you have, just ensure you start at core 2)

This has immediately solved the issue for me - and it even decreases load time dramatically as well. Any tool that can reduce the CPU priority and remove cores will probably work, but this can be done on a rule basis per running process.

Of course, I cannot say if this is guaranteed to work for everyone. But I can say I've had hardlocking constantly, and I've now been able to play for 5 hours continuously. Except for one REALLY off bug that may be a server issue (says my controller is unplugged then dumps me back to the login screen).

Tried this IN COMBINATION with changing my game to full screen and changing Upscale mode to NVIDIA DLSS, set to Quality. So far, no crashes even with my cores activated.

5800X3D
3080
32GB ram
23H2

Update: was able to play for a few hours with no crashes but it inevitably crashed again. big sigh
Tried a couple more things. Full crash trying to kill the first boss again. I’ll keep looking for a fix (if they ever find one).but I’m done for now.
