Hard crashing PC locks up

Fix this fucking shit already god damn
I5 10400f - RTX 3060 - 16GB - W11

Happened 5 times now, I have 9 hours of gameplay.

I'm not going to play again until they fix this problem, to have to hard reset every now and then is too risk.
Happened to me like 20 times and I've got ~10 hours playtime. Absurd for sure

It has no chance of actually catching a hardware error.

Nobody talked about "hardware error" (fake information from you) but about losing the file system data, like $MFT writes during the lock (cached writes for examples). Nothing less, nothing more.

/r tries to detect bad sectors, so this is NOT the case.

GPython#5980 is the guy who backed up the guy you were accusing of trolling because he said he had a hardware issue. During your discussions you told him to:

"

After hard crash use chkdsk.exe to check your system drive manually to make sure there is no data corruption on your system partition

chkdsk /f <system_drive_name>
for ex:
chkdsk /f c:

After a hard crash, if he had a hardware problem, chkdsk /f wouldn't be able to catch it. If he has an SSD-like most do in 2025-, it would only be an additional burden and not a check. Now go away from this thread and take your L with you on your way out.

The only good you have done in this thread is to allow me to bump it once in a while.
I cannot send/reply to direct messages because my in-game character has not finished Act 1.
What to do:
1)Write a short review about the hard crashes in notepad.
2)Copy and paste it to steam reviews, put up a negative review.
3)Copy and paste it to steam discussions, put it up there.
During zoning with both Dx12 & Vulkan. Also when switching between the two in the login screen. Ryzen 7 7800X3D, RTX 4090, Windows 11 Version 24H2.

Only started happening in the last 1-2 days however this actually coincides with my PC updating to Windows 11 24H2 2 days ago. Before this I had no such crash/freezing asides from disconnecting to login screen on map zoning.

Disabling multithreading before taking portals seems to temporarily prevent crashing but still seeing spikes to 100% CPU utilisation while taking them.

Potential fix
Couldnt get past char selection the past few days.. crash whenever I tried to load in..

Noticed in windows logger that GameInput Service failed to start at the exact time I was crashing in loading screen (happened multiple times)

I tried repairing and resetting this service in settings:
windows settings -> apps -> installed apps -> Gaming Services

Not a single crash ever since. coincidence? idk - I will test it out again tomorrow.

win 24H2
RTX 3070
Ryzen 7 3700X

To permanently disable the Microsoft Game Input app in Windows 11, you can follow these steps:

Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.

Type "services.msc" (without quotes) and press Enter to open the Services window.

In the Services window, scroll down and locate the "GameInput Service" entry.

Right-click on "GameInput Service" and select Properties.

In the Properties window, under the General tab, change the Startup type to "Disabled".

Click on the Stop button to stop the service if it is currently running.

Click Apply and then OK to save the changes.

Thought I'd share that in case anyone else wants to test the above. Anything is worth a shot at this point.

We really should get some free cosmetics or something for troubleshooting so hard. It's a testament to how desirable it is to play the game, really. I wouldn't bother doing all this for an Ubisoft title.

not playable. always hard crashing in loading screen.

RTX 3070
AMD Ryzen7 5800X
W11 24H2
The crashes have been minimal for me so far, only like once a day or so. I usually crash in these cases (4 times out of 5 on loading screen):

1. While changing characters. I.e. if I start to play different character from Stadnard to SSF - the game crashes
2. I've been playing duo with a friend and seems changing realms (i.e. I am on Milan, friend on frankfrurt). If one zone is milan and other in frankfrut - we were both crashing (him not hard-feezing, while I had to reboot)

Kind of interesting how none of the well known streamers are experiencing this hard crash....
Tried disabling Bluetooth. No dice after a few tries.

I read once or twice that people have had luck disabling the NVIDIA App & Control Panel. The problem with all of this is the random nature of these crashes. There's a high likelihood of false positives when it comes to "what works". This probably won't work, but I'm trying it currently while zoning from place to place rapidly.

Run Dialog:
- Press Win + R to open the Run dialog.
- Type services.msc and press Enter.
Find NVIDIA Services:
- Look for services that start with "NVIDIA".
- Right-click on any relevant service (like NVIDIA Display Container LS) and select Properties.
- Change the Startup type to Disabled.
- Click Stop if the service is currently running, then click OK.

Didn't work for me, sadly, in the end.
