[0.2] Cold Chronomancer Megathread. Nerfed to the ground.

Gentlemen, do you use Archmage? It's not as good as it used to be

Next thing - you included Convalescence in the spirit count 224 for all auras, but we can just put this in set 2. We save 30 spirits this way (does it work slower then? I didn't notice, you'd have to test it) ;)

BTW, master build. you guide me very well (and the rest of the wonderful people from this thread too, of course) :D

Ye, it says CI there. If you killed mobs while being on set with Arvil's Wheel and didn't die, then it's Cursecarver that has flat 10 life loss, changed it to normal wand with +4 to All Spell Skills.

Ok, about Convalescence, if you set it only to set 2, it still can be used with set 1, so it doesn't swap to set 2 to cast it, so it's kinda free i guess, if you really need that 30 extra spirit until it's fixed. Once fixed, it would probably swap to set 2 to cast it, and that weapon swap time is too big to worth doing it.

Thanks ;)
ugh. had a chance to sit down and play again.
its a struggle.

constant interrupts, stuns, spend 20 minutes dodging/running in a circle, walls/bombs. and look up. boss still has 90% of his hp..

did that druid boss in cruel. he just wont stop casting nonstop.

The design is just frustrating and tedious.
not remotely enough down time and openings in boss fights. they attack nonstop.
the chip delays on hitting hit. the slowdown on casting. bodyblocking enemies and frostwalls themselves..
its all forcing you into outgearing and outdpsing everything.

I doubt Ill make it very deep into maps before Last Epoch update. (nevermind vrising)

Yeah.

That is why I just went for damage. Campaign on Cruel was a breeze, same went for maps.

I got bored with t3-t5 and just bought a few of t9, was surprisingly good, besides the fact that I have 1.3k life and 500 es xD

Lvled to 79 and that's it.

I still went for Blasphemy/Temporal Chains, got 30% curse effect on it. I still think it's a good defensive layers. During my lvling from 65 to 79 I died just 2 times.

And yeah, got offering duration up to 22 seconds again. It is still about 20-25% more damage.

As for the gear, 4/10 of things are from acts (body, helmet, belt, ring).
I got +5 cold wand for 40ex and those cheap Nightscale gloves for 150% mana regen on crit. Effigy is very strong for being dirty cheap.

Kinda this. Did a couple of t11 - was still good, no problems with map bosses at all. Damage is here (esp under mana storm).

This is a use of different weapon sets: red is the first (main, damage), green is the second (secondary, duration).

Hi, I'm thinking about this build which was shared by user monik390, and even though I have quite a lot of Spirit, I still can't quite fit everything in. I really wanted to add an extra curse — Hypothermia — to the Blasphemy skill, but that would require even more Spirit. There’s one node that the author of the build mentions (Profane Commander), but it’s only +5% :)
The reason I’m looking into this is because I’d like to free up a slot for an additional skill.

If I currently have 327 Spirit, then +5% would give me around 16 extra points.

Do you happen to know of anything else, maybe something a bit obscure, that could be used to increase Spirit?

Also, if you’re using FrostBolt, what support gems are you running with it? The build author does mention this skill, although if I understand correctly, they don’t include it in the endgame setup — but I can’t see what supports they’re using with it.

Profane Commander is 5%, but there are small passives near it - another 5% total. So, wheel makes it 10%.

You still can get more Spirit with Amulets, Chests, and that Alphas Howl helmet.

Frostbolt - same links as in my maxroll (Arcane Tempo-Scattershot-Ambush-Acceleration, and wildshards for last).

Considering the nerf of supports for it (esp Scattershot) and the Archmage - you will need both Icicle support in frost wall and Shattered Crystal from the tree. This way you will explode walls reliably.

Personally, I was leaning towards Foci instead of sceptre with Archmage.
With 2k Mana AM offers 15-20% more damage (but it's just lightning, so no synergy with curses), +2 focus offers ~25% more damage from just levels not counting spell/cold damage and crit chance, and even Effigy focus offers 26-27% more damage with just Critical Weakness full stacks and not increasing the mana cost.

~~~~
I actually wanted to differentiate our builds (my and Paintmasters') by the difference in the offhands and having Archmage or not.
Omen Sceptre (lvl 18 Malice) can apply up to 3.5-6% of CW (depends if there is 20% quality on sceptre, and Forthcoming wheel or not). Let's say, it's 6%.
Let's say, we are running with 200% increased crit chance and 200% multi.
Frost Bomb has 13% base crit chance.
So:
Effigy: (0.69*974*3)+(0.31*974)=2318 average hit. This is not counting 70% increased spell damage from focus.
Omen: (0.54*974*3)+(0.46*974)=2025 average hit. 2431 with the Archmage (20% more damage).
No CW stacks: (0.39*974*3)+(0.61*974)=1733 average hit. 2080 with Archmage (20% more damage).
Omen still requires a few seconds to apply those CW stacks. Effigy applies all with just 1 wall detonation combo.
Let's add 300% increased damage.
Effigy (70% increased damage): 2318*3.7=8576
Omen w/Archmage: 2547*3=7293
15% difference, considering the fact that running with Effigy also doesn't increase mana cost as much as Archmage.
~~~~

But yeah, this is just a raw example that doesn't include lots of things.

Basically, Scetre setup offers way more ES from the Chest (bc spirit mod takes the ES spot here), and just more persistent buffs to fit. Ez spirit. Like CoC+CoF. With Foci you have to choose between them, if you want Blasphemy too.

Archmage, on the other hand, offers just 15-20% more damage which doesn't scale with hypothermia/cold exposure, and increase mana cost.

It's still absolutely necessary to run Archmage with sceptres tho, bc it's the only way to make it a bit closer to foci powercreep.

~~~~
My point is still it - Sceptres ain't mandatory in the medium-budget range now. They have pros and cons in comparison to foci.
Not sure about big budgets tho.
i see, didnt know the game can do that
Hey guys. I just got a level 20 skill gem. which gem from our arsenal is worth upgrading first?
I also got two perfect jewlers orbs. I put the first one on frost wall. Should I put the 2nd on front bomb or ice nova?
Alright, let's say I would turn a blind eye and try to use this Frost Bomb ;) Since Frostbolt, as I understand, isn’t performing too well, I’m just not sure how fast map clearing would work in this setup.
Honestly, the idea of using foci without Archmage and sceptre is really nice — I actually like it even more. But I doubt I’ll be able to find better armour with enough spirit (sry I don't know how to put a picture here) to support all the skills: CoF, CoC, and the others.
Still, it’s a really great concept!
