[0.2] Cold Chronomancer Megathread. Let's see how we can survive this.
" I started with Unleash, because I wanted to play with it. in act3, unleash+frostbolt is.. ok. cull/15% more damage, and arcane tempo/glacation on frostbolt is good. very spammable. but, overall still doesn't do much damage. not compared to frostwall. I could experiment with this more.. scattershot penalties are so high.. but that aoe coverage for cull might be worth it. thats a big problem, frostbolt just not having enough coverage. but 35% less damage, and 20% less cast speed. ffs.. tanks its dps so bad. in the current design of the game, getting overrun by white mobs, its dps, and coverage are not good enough. or, not as good as frostwall. wildshards is t3, not an option for a while. I think t2 should start dropping soon? level 35. yeah. I will have to re-evaluate when t2 supports start dropping to see if any change the viability. considered casting is t2. rising tempest t2. ambrosia inevitable crit. pinpoint crit lesser jewelers did start dropping, but frankly, most of the supports are just trash. particularly t1. Fireball. if I was going fireball, unleash first is solid I think. its larger aoe coverage, and much higher burst, is a bit more functional then frostbolt unleash. Psychic fragmentation is 7 passive points. could swap the crit for that. 32% chance for 2 extra proj. Ingenuity is also t2. does it go into frostwall, frostbomb, or unleash??? (frostwall, it goes in frostwall) so, ultimately. I swapped over to "now and again". the CD nerf to frostwall is rough. and its the only thing that can aoe hit all the white mobs constantly overrunning you. and do enough damage to actually kill anything. it also does benefit frostbomb. and even unleash when we do get it. which, trial of chaos is level 38 or so. and unleash scales with level. its weaker the earlier you get it. while now and again is immediately useful for frostbomb, and frostwall when you get that at 32. tl/dr: Now and again, then unleash. then apex or time rift, then time rift, or timestop, or timesnap. |

" This is the exact reason why I went hard on CC and AoE. Bomb/wall, CDR shield, Nova+Unleash early, freezing, temporal chains, apex, etc. Wall is so damn perfect skill (esp bc It can take aggro) so it's just too hard to ignore. Literally don't have any survivability issues from mobbing. Also, unfortunately, Verglas support is not stackable by the number of walls. It scales only by life of the ice crystal. Lvl 24 gem has 16227 life. 8% of extra cold. Glacier is 100% more life - 32k - 16% extra cold. Ice Wall - 200% increased - 96k total, 48% extra cold. If I'm right. As if breaking a 96k wall is that easy. Dunno. More I find about new stuff - less hope I have. Right now all early ideas don't meet my expectations. Completed acts 1-6 in 33hrs and 31 mins last night. The summary of this is gonna be mainly for how fkin good cold is compared to spark x flame wall.
Act 2 and 3 were roughly 6 hrs long each. This was where I did spark flame wall and wow if I knew how to show you the image summary I have of this, you'd be massively surprised I kid you not. When I added frost wall and frost bomb, holy god, I was flying through. Acts 4 and 5 took me 2 hours each, and Act 6 was 3 hours long. This, bearing in mind, was a massive PB for me for the campaign. I think as soon as we can get frost bomb and Frost Wall in the skill tree, just use them because Spark is useless now. Last league as a monk, I think it took me about 38 hrs for campaign solo just to put a perspective of how much faster this was as a suspected "dead" class. Chronomancer is by far one of the best classes Now I've done it! Now I need to try and figure out how to incorporate this with my block capping chrono build for 6 man. Wish me luck. I'll be on here frequently to check the mind mapping of the brilliant theorycrafters that convinced me to do this in the first place :D |

" ooph. poe2 has a massive design problem with supports all be so situational and so ineffective. theres like 3 or 4 good supports... that can only go on 1 skill.. |

next thing we need to look into is tame beat and spectres.
how much spirit and do they provide any benefit? tame a rare beast. has to be a beast. not undead/human,etc. https://poe2db.tw/us/Tame_Beast reviving companion. companions are minions. "Tamed Beast retains up to four monster modifiers when summoned" https://www.poe2wiki.net/wiki/Monster_modifier could be a source of ground effects? " perhaps very high regen a source of life tapping? " bonus temp chains. " auras. " I wonder if they didnt nerf that ES aura. I bet they didnt.. Any number of the aoe attacks such as "periodic lighting explostions" might help pop walls. Also, if they are large, and/or have a charge attack. |

Has anyone tried Elemental invocation as a trigger for comet instead of CoF and CoC? If so, does it work decently compared to the other 2?

So, I'm level 75, and I've started tier 9 maps. My gameplay looks like this: I throw frost wall, then frost bomb and comets with cast on critical. I have blasphemy and I can't imagine playing without it. Mobs run up quickly, hit with light stun and you get tired. Good luck to warriors. I'm playing archmage with one jewel 2% mana on kill. The mana problem on bosses is real. Clearing maps is okay, we'll see how it goes later. I'm playing with old support gems, where are those new 100+ gems? I have 328 spirit, 170 weapon and 58 from the amulet. I don't know how it will look further, it feels a bit strange to play, and I'm not good at finding new things. I'm saving up for a snake ring now.

" I played on Standard, with x3 Elemental Invocation. It was okay on open maps, but on closed maps with narrow corridors it was very weak. CoC was 10 times better. |

Thanks for the reply. I will probably end up testing it out but wanted to see if someone else messed with it.

" It might be useful, but problem is, level 9 gem require 72 dex, which is hard to get early :( |
