Steam Download Clarification

So many assumptions while at the exact same time showing you know absolutely nothing about the inner workings of game companys interacting with steam. Steam has a blanket policy to not allow pre-downloads on early access games, which POE 2 is. They have no recourse, and I promise you guys that do this shit for a living, not some guy in a basement rage typing such as yourself, have tried their best to get preloads for steam. GGG does their best to make things easy for us, and when they can't it is usually a roadblock like this. I get you are upset, but in the end it will cost you a couple hours of waiting for a download during the worst time to be trying to play, aka launch. Nobody is going to be getting in and having a good time right away, it just won't happen. So take a chill pill, stop baby raging, and realize people with jobs are doing their best to satiate your ungratefulness. A couple hours to get in isn't going to kill you.

Like i did mention, Steam Pre-Load, is not the same thing, as simply putting your game files up for download.

GGG is great, but that should never blind you to issues, clearly the person/people handling the Steam side of stuff, are not doing great. I mean, the game was up for pretty much half price in most of the world for 2 days on Steam. That will cause a lot of issues for GGG.

Nothing is preventing GGG from releasing the same files they will push via their launcher, on Steam at the same time.

But that is besides the point really. I just want more of a clarification. As it stands, if you just look at the Steam page as a 'solo' thing, the game is not releasing in early access tomorrow on Steam, there is no indication if that, at all.
Its not up to GGG for steam preload, Steam doesnt allow preload for any early access games, its a blanket rule that steam has.

Lets first get a couple of things resolved.

Steam Preload - This is normally an encrypted version of the files, that will decrypt at a set time/date.

Soon, GGG will be releasing a torrent and POE2 to download, unencrypted, that will be ready to go when the servers go live.

There is no reason, restriction, etc that GGG, can not have the the exact same files, in the same state, be downloadable on Steam, at the same time. It wouldnt be a pre-load.

I could pay steam $100 right now, and release an early access game in the next 30mins, with files ready to download. There is nothing 'stopping' GGG in that regard.

With that all out of the way. Whoever at GGG seems to be handling the Steam side of things, really needs to shape up. They lost GGG a decent amount of money with the wrong pricing on day 1, and now are causing support avenues of GGG to be flooded with people lacking some basic info on Steam Release etc.

Could we get some clarification of what is going on with Steam ? Right now, it says Coming Soon Dec.

* Will we actually be able to play POE2 via steam, on 'release'/'Servers Live' whatever you want to call it.

* Will the files being released as a torrent etc, also be released on Steam around the same time.

Tons of people, did the whole 'add email and password via Steam Login' over a decade ago, and tons of people have lost access to those emails, and set passwords, because they were rarely used by the general Steam POE player.

I assume your support ticket system is swamped with people having this issue. But the reality is, give us proper info about Steam, and these people are not going to need to get their account emails 'changed', cause the only reason they are doing it, is its believed Steam is a no go for launch.

Thanks you
Just curious why so many people want to play on steam and not the download from the site. I had always played POE 1 from the website. Whats the advantage with using steam?

And of course you are a no challenge no supporter pack Andy.

I mean, the reason for that, is because i want it on Steam, and im avoiding buying the game right now, in case i need to make a new POE account, so im able to play the game on release.

Because as it stands, POE2, will not be releasing into early access on Steam tomorrow. The Steam page, nor has GGG indicated that it will be.

As it stands, you will NEED to link your steam to your POE account, and download via the launcher.

Which as i stated, tons of people can not do right now, because this system is over a decade old, and people used emails/passwords they no longer have access to.

So i would PREFER to buy the game on Steam, but if that means i cant play tomorrow (because my steam account is already linked to a POE account i dont have the email for), then i will need to create a new POE account, and buy it direct from GGG.

Quality of Life really. Easier to just have everything on Steam, that has very secure login practices, compared to having a whole new password to keep track of just for POE2 etc

I just hate anything else than steam,if its not on steam I aint buying it also if game is on steam that I want to play but it requires me to agree and download separate launcher to play it,even thought I bought it on steam then thats a pass for me.

Let be perfectly clear here.

Anyone, I mean ANYONE, who think, he will play the game in the first couple of hrs is delusional, because the servers WILL NOT handle the requests.

So....

GGG got server capacity enough for 1 mil so theres hope

Capacity is one thing, stability is entirely different lol

That's not true. I played plenty early access games this year alone that allowed preload.

Steam is more secure to login with 2FA.

Also, it's also a small sample size, but Steam makes it much easier to play for people not using Windows. If I wanted to use the standalone client, it's a few extra steps to get working on Linux manually where Steam makes it a simple 1-click play.
so PoE 2 its number 1 on Steam Sales currently, Volvo we need Pre-Download
