A Concern with Pinnacle Bosses in PoE2
I agree with the idea of having at least a couple portals to fight the boss because there are things outside the players control that could cause a failure. Especially when the bosses take 300 splinters to make a key for example.
But on the other side of the fence, you can hold those keys until your gear and level make it a safer/faster fight or if your build cant handle the boss immediately you will probably find plenty of people who will be doing boss carries until you reach a power level/skill where you can kill them yourself. Carries use to be a big part of poe's economy. Everything from boss killing and lab carries. As the power creep happened the carries faded. |

Remember these P.bosses have multiple difficulties now, I think 5? I know we've heard tier 4 but I think that doesn't count the base version.
If you can't do a certain tier in one try, then go lower, and get better. One attempt at a boss before you have to find them again sounds amazing and will have huge knock on effects such as the loot being worth much more, and therefore bossing in general being worth much more. This THEN means building in defenses for your character is worth it, which in turn makes items that aren't huge on damage but good on defense worth it. Just try it before yall start claiming that you care about the 1 hour a week timmy that can't corpse run a boss. |

I think theres a lot of good points - I do wonder if I would've beaten Elden Ring if I had to restart even at like a halfway checkpoint for each boss. I'm pretty sure I would've quit at Messmer maybe came back to it after a few months.
This isn't like a worry where I'd ever consider not playing PoE2 or even saying its a major problem with the game.. I like high difficulty in games I like the idea of if you fail a map you fail it move on but if I wanted to have a significant amount of time wasted when I died I'd play HC and I may from what I've heard at least in EA you just get moved into SC. (Prob cause no league) I mean who knows though this is all just speculation we may get in there and the majority of the bosses have more telegraphed attacks that just ramp up in speed during the fight or something of the sort. There are games that do a decent job of showing you boss mechanics on the way to the boss and that has not from what I can recall been a significant part of PoE. I'm sure there are examples but a lot of MMO's for example will give you the mechanic to do in rooms before you get the actual boss. |

" There are indeed 5 levels of bosses. Jonathan did the programmer thing and counted from 0. |

Just put a timer on the boss instance like FF14 does and go smash your face for a hour (or whatever amount of time) with unlimited lives, Boss resets everytime you die to full HP and just dont allow teamates to chain revive. If you log out and still have time left then when you log back in your right there with your time left over they already have pause thats gonna work like this.
Its not gonna be very "FUN" to get one chance at a Boss especially if they are as mechanic intensive as they sound. If you only get one shot players are just gonna study Utube , add 3rd party programs to do call outs , use unkillable tank builds or 1 shot DPS builds to clear farm and profit off the bosses. I really wish Mark would get ahead of this subject as I can see its gonna be one of if not "thee" top point of contention for EA. |

i didnt read cuz i cant bother but i just assume he is complaining that bosses are too hard becuz you got one try now only and you cant 1 shot bosses and use 6 portals as your best defence tool now glass cannon builds are in shambles and need to learn the boss mechanics

I am very much looking forward to all boss kills being challenges that need to be done in one life.
I can see there might be a worry that one death is going to consume one access key/atlast node, whatnot.... but this has more to do with the balance of how easy it is to get those keys. For example, Last Epoch has a system, where if you fail at endgame monolith progression bosses, your "stability" goes down, and if it goes down enough, you have to farm more to get more stability before you can try again. POE2 could turn out to feel similar, or totally different, depending on the amount of "farming" it takes for another attempt. |
