POE 1 / POE 2 - Arachnophobia mode
Face your fears, Exile.

I don't like scary movies, so all movies shouldn't have anything fear-inducing. Including horror and scary movies. Naturally, this is a legitimate concern.
I wouldn't ever downplay anyone else's legitimate personal fears, background, or individual circumstances. However, they play absolutely no role in everything else that exists in the world. Personal issues = personal solutions. Unless....one can prove that the personal issue is actually widespread enough to be a significant drain on the playerbase. PoE historical examples include colorblindness and socket visibility, but only because even to the normal players the color scheme was poorly chosen (and still is). Sadly though, monster/animal fears or concerns within a genre specifically designed to include those things, is not high up on that list of large concerns. People replying to this thread clearly don't have a phobia. It's not something you can casually face and improve just to play a game.
Arachnophobia is one of the most common ones and It'd be a huge help if they could just replace spider models with a grey blob with no animations. No need for them to put a lot of work into it. I will try to play anyway, but damn I feel bad just looking at the videos. They managed to make the most disgusting spiders I've seen in a video game. |

From the videos that I've seen, GGG has managed to make spiders in PoE 2 quite creepy, so I can understand some people.
But if spiders in a video game trigger your phobia, that by definition means you can use the game to fight back. You have a completely controlled environment to face this problem in 'doses'. Use it as a stepping stone toward overcoming the real thing. The catch is that people have a natural disgust of 'crawling' critters, which makes them perfect material for 'dark' content like PoE. Spiders are a must have, and in fact I'd say that since they come from the real world, they induce more 'creepiness' in people than wild fantastical monstrosities. Vaal human potato peelers? Pffttt... Tiny-legged spiders are the real thing. :P When night falls

" I think the idea was a payed option to replace the spiders with something else but could also work for other things, At least that's what i got from it. When it comes to some of these specialty requests this is probably the only way it'l happen unless GGG feels generous and i don't expect that period to come until PoE2 has settled and GGG is comfortable again.
