Step 6 will need some testing from your side, maybe if you make a shop in
Settlers League - Shops it works out of the box,

Well dang, that actually worked, even indexed a non-Settlers Private League.

Likely my issue was posting in a non-indexed forum.

You don't need to do anything fancy, at Step 6 simply clicking on the item gets the correct private league and whatnot and does not require adjustment.

The game also detects whether or not you're online, without needing to do anything in the extremely outdated "Appearing online" section. I'll update it.
