POE2 Steam/Standalone Launcher

"
The only way to play EA is through Steam. I too do not use Steam and would rather use the stand alone client. That being said, I'm not going to skip EA.

Once the game releases, we'll find out if we can use the stand alone client with the Steam account. The only thing that could possibly be a problem is micro-transactions. I'm holding off on any purchases beyond the key purchase until a definitive answer for this is available.

On the FAQ page, and already explained right in this thread:

"
When does Early Access start on all platforms?
Path of Exile 2 will launch in Early Access at 11am December 6th PST which is Dec 06, 2024 12:00 PM (MST) in your local time on all supported platforms, including a standalone PC client, Steam and Epic Games Store clients as well as Xbox Series and PlayStation 5.

Unfortunately Path of Exile 2 will not be available on MacOS at the start of Early Access, but we’re keen to add support for this platform as soon as possible.

The only option I saw was a Steam client key.

I don't see where this was already answered. I see several people copying and pasting a FAQ statement, but does not reflect the purchase options.

Again, it's explained on the FAQ page

When you purchased the supporter pack, the key was automatically redeemed for your account, and you don't have to do anything else to play the beta when it launches other than download the pc client and login.

The Steam key you got does nothing more than add the POE2 client to your Steam library so you can play it there if you want.

"
How to redeem a key?
Upon purchasing your first supporter pack that includes an Early Access key, that key will be automatically redeemed on the account the purchase was made. You don’t have to do anything else, just download the game client when it’s available and login on launch day!

If you're unsure about your status, or want to view any of your keys, this information is available under my-account/early-access.

If you have purchased a key and/or have access granted for one PC game client (Stand-alone, Steam, or Epic), but wish to play on another game client, you will be able to do so by claiming a key to unlock access to that client. These are available at my-account/early-access and can be redeemed on the relevant platform's store. Please note these keys only unlock the client in your library, they do not on their own provide early access to your account.

As an example, if you purchase a Supporter Pack through the Path of Exile website, you will be able to claim a key to unlock the client in your Steam Library.

When does Early Access start on all platforms?
Path of Exile 2 will launch in Early Access at 11am December 6th PST which is Dec 07, 2024 8:00 AM (GMT+13) in your local time on all supported platforms, including a standalone PC client, Steam and Epic Games Store clients as well as Xbox Series and PlayStation 5.

Unfortunately Path of Exile 2 will not be available on MacOS at the start of Early Access, but we’re keen to add support for this platform as soon as possible.

When will I be able to download the client?
A few days prior to the Early Access launch. We’ll announce the details in the news, so you won’t miss it!

Thanks!
keep in mind that steam has a weekly server shutdown, mostly tuesdays which disconnects all clients from sensible games and chat. I play CoD with some friends and they are kicked from warzone every tuesday around midnight which sucks.

imagine you play hardcore and steam kicks you for maintanance.

so for me its standalone launcher or nothing

Well, given that steam weekly reboots are always same time of tuesday anyone can lay around that.
What if i have redeemed steam key already ? Will i still have an option to use standalone client ? Or i need to do it trough steam ?

It is your account that has early access. You can use either.
