It’s also a bit baffling from a monetary sense. I’m not sure on the % of players in each part of the world, but I would assume based off the fact that stash tab sales run on the weekend that they have more players logging on. I can’t think of any other game I’ve played that does a 5hr downtime during busy hours. Surely Tuesday NZ time would be the way to go, especially after already failing once for 8? hours of downtime.

sometimes i defend GGG but this is one of the times i dont.
back when i worked as a service provider, saturday/sundays were a good time for commercial services as people would be using their services more on weekdays.
for gaming, it's the opposite where weekends are the peak.
maintenance were done to minimize disruption to majority of the users.
c'mon

They gave us a 4 day notice. We knew it was coming.
They are also based in New Zealand (where it is currently late morning on a Monday). Today's patch is a BIG operation, and they are going to need all day to get things done.
Best Practices in deploying changes, No Mondays. No Fridays. No peak hours.
They don't seem to care about development norms, they just care about their MTXs...
explain when is peak hours then...
cause if we go by steam then even on a sunday the playercount is no higher then say a wednesday this past week so yeah it would have effected same amount of people.
also software and games do things when they are needed

random sunday/monday 3 months after a league launch is not "busy hours"
People are literally just looking for reasons to be negative babies.

pretty much
even steam backs this up that there has been no difference with weekend player counts and weekday player counts at these times of day.
