PS5 Freezing every minute everywhere
The ps5 client has been unplayable since it's release. Was this even tested at all before being pushed out. Did you actually go beyond the opening credits? It hard freezes and locks up, It stutters, sometimes you get kicked to the main menu. Most of the time you just sit there frozen. Clearing cache and restoring the database isn't working anymore, and honestly that should never be a thing we need to do to play your game. AS ALWAYS THERE WON'T BE A RESPONSE FROM GGG.

" Just buy another cosmetics and watch poe streamers. And be thankfull to be able to complete acts. I can't imagine how bad poe 2 on consoles if they are not able to fix such cache problem in poe. Last edited by Gala_Za_23#9977 on Mar 11, 2025, 3:02:15 AM

Same here, the game freezez every 30 seconds :(

It was fine for me the last two days, but now the freezing is back. Oddly, it only seems to happen in maps. Hideout/town is fine. I suspect it's their instance servers having intermittent network or performance problems.

I crash in the mines level 1 during any amount of combat after a few minutes. I tried both ps4 and ps5 versions running on a ps5 and it crashed every time. I tried without any cosmetics, no change.
I ran the same level on a ps4 pro and had no issue, but I can't keep playing on it due to the minutes long load screens. |

I am finally able to play again. I did a number of things and not sure what ultimately resolved the issue. For each one of these I fully shut down and restarted the PS5. I was in act 3 and tried running the mines level 1 and 2. Occasionally I could make it through to mines 2, but usually crashed in mines 1, and if I did make it to the 2nd one, it would crash in 30 seconds to a minute. Before this exercise I did try the ps4 client running on the ps5 and it would crash with the same frequency and I was not able to clear mines 1 ever. I did notice when it would freeze, if I saved a video of last few minutes or so, it would immediately unstick and all the events of combat would flush the event queue before a full disconnect - on occasion I could continue to play but the next freeze would happen fairly quickly. I strongly suspect something with the audio coding hitting a deadlock interacting with the auto screen recording of the ps5 (but this is just speculation)
What I tried: I cleared up space on the console main ssd (game is stored on the 2nd ssd which has plenty of space) - This did not resolve the issue. I tried disabling all mtx cosmetics. - This did not resolve the issue. I tried playing on 1080p with HDR disabled. - This did not resolve the issue. I changed the automatic screen recording from webm to mp4. - This did not resolve the issue. I disabled reverb audio. - This did not resolve the issue. I turned off every optional graphical setting - no health bars above characters or enemies, no numbers over health/mana. - This did not resolve the issue. I lowered every volume setting to zero, every single bar completely off. - No crashes and ran through three full zones. I tried turning back one sound setting on at a time to find which one caused the crashing. - I did not experience another crash. I reset volume back to normal using the reset default option. - Still no crashes. I reset the ps5 cache after all these attempts. So who knows. I have had 2 crashes while playing since, but the issue does not return after restarting. About every 3rd time I start the game it crashes when I load my character as it is loading and submit crash report to Sony - this has happened 3 times. I went through this effort on Friday, and have been playing a bit Saturday and Sunday now. I would say first try for others might be to just lower all your volume sliders and disabling reverb and seeing what happens. It's not fun to play with no sound - but I never crashed once volume was off even though turning it back on still haven't crashed regularly. |

Here's my notes on my currently unplayable state with frequent freezes and unexpected disconnects, thankfully only very rarely crashes:
Iirc I installed a fresh PS5 client for 3.25 and played Settlers and Necro Settler with it without many issues. Also now played Phrecia from its start but only sporadically. Some day last week there was a "realm is restarting in 10 minutes" at night (EU). Freezes began after that realm restart when I came back the next day. Tried other the other EU servers since Frankfurt is often prone to problems and the freezes seemed less severe on Amsterdam and London but occurring with the same frequency. Which doesn't make much sense to me but that's the case for many of PoE client issues. Thought it would maybe just be playing Flicker Strike but nope, can't play any of my characters. These freezes unfortunately kill as the client isn't booting you out as soon as it starts. And you can still control your character or at least queue up control inputs and you may live if it catches up instead of eventually disconnecting. I'll give the volume sliders a try, otherwise a fresh client install, otherwise back to the PS 4 client (barf emoji). At least the PS4 client also doesn't sound like it's trying to fry my receiver/speakers with frequent crackles and pops. edit1: Sliders to zero and disabling Reverb didn't work for me. After restarting with the sliders down I could at least get through a whole zone and boss fight but got a freeze and DC right afterwards still in the same zone. On to reinstalling the client. edit2: Reinstalling did the trick. I deleted the client, then restarted the PS5, then installed the PS5 client again (I still have the PS4 one on the USB HDD). No issues within half a day of playing. Maybe the log file just got too big or something like that. ... is not a troll Last edited by trollkind1#9593 on Mar 25, 2025, 11:23:04 AM

I was hoping the volume setting was enough, but looks like it is not it. I had crashing even with the ps4 client on ps5. Only the ps4 client running on ps4 was working for me. The crashes for me started with Phrecia, though not right away. If networking related, I am connected to Washington DC and haven't tried other datacenters.
