every time i try an ARPG because i get overwhelmed by POE

There is nothing that matches poe, and never will be.

It absolutly does, for example warframe, one of the most played free steam games has 64.6% cipher achievement, something you literally get in the first intro mission in the game that guides you each step of the way.

Ok, but then 39% of D4 players haven't even killed 666 demons (or related) !

Oh, also, I can't believe I forgot : those PoE1's Part 2 completion numbers (15%) are also not as bad as they look, because PoE1 didn't even have a Part 2 for the first 4 years !

Or... you know, pick a steam data point that would be relevant, like the % of players that open a map in the map device achievement.

Then you don't have to worry about what you think isn't applicable, and agree on what is.

*side note- it's a very low number imo.

Are we really going to pick up the inconsistent steam numbers again just for the sake of doing so?
Bad and desperate take as many have already proven you wrong about those numbers across multiple topics in the past.
Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.

No that's your opinion on specific data points you (or anyone else) think are problematic. The numbers are there, do whatever you want with them, I simply do not care on your philosophy regarding Steam, or how you pick and choose. Honestly, that's a you problem.

Point in case, on this specific post, please elaborate on why the achievement I stated for map device opening wouldn't be accurate? I'd like to hear the rationale on that.

No....its not an opinion. You are literally wrong in the way you describe those stats lol. You can't just "do whatever you want with them", you need to UNDERSTAND them....which you do not.

As for the map device opening, did you know that there were maps back when the game only had 3 acts? So already theres strike one against that stat. People could open maps, while also NOT completing the story. Additionally, maps were far easier to reach back in the day so there's a complete difference in achievement difficulty.

There are many issues with steam "achievements" to the point of them being virtually useless to use as legitimate stats in any argument.

First off, I've been with PoE since the very beginning. When PoE came out of Closed Beta in 2013, and onto Steam, there were maps, and a map device. Full Stop. There is absolutely no evidence to suggest this specific achievement is inaccurate in any way, nor is there any evidence to suggest that players that launch from Steam behave any differently than those that do so on the GGG launcher.

It's always interesting to see how some people, when shown they are wrong about some very basic stuff, literally implode on themselves rather than just...you know...admit they were mistaken and move on. This guy literally quadrupled down + across multiple threads with incorrect data and the SAME legitimate reasons why steam achievements are not remotely useful data points.

And then to say "the numbers are there, do what you want with them"......how does one write that and not realize that is completely antithetical to useful or even accurate stats?

It's always the same cycle. When this comes up I just started linking the old posts from the last time we argued this over, but some people are immune to new information and so it is a fruitless effort
