Same here. Constantly crashing and some times it take 7 attempts just to get back into the game. The game feels very unstable. After seeing how many players on pc are experiencing this issue I’m tempted to just buy a console for Poe 2. Feels like the safe bet.

I had no issues in original settlers launch but constant pc crashing freezes in necro settlers.
I tried every kind of fix (reinstall, install on other drive, reinstall windows, downgrade nvidia driver, dx11+vulkan+dx12, low sound channel count, disable sounds completely) and nothing worked. Even a fresh windows reinstall and it crashed upon first loading screen. Downgrading to a previous windows 11 version has completely solved it for me (30+hrs of gameplay no crashes) . Just make a boot drive with an earlier version and install like normal. |

Just returned to play a bit in Necro Settlers SSF.
Yesterday I had a few hours of active gameplay. 10 crashes, always the same error Faulting application name: PathOfExileSteam.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x6746472f Faulting module name: KERNELBASE.dll, version: 10.0.22621.4391, time stamp: 0x7433a115 Exception code: 0xe0000001 Fault offset: 0x000000000005fa4c Faulting process id: 0x0x94C4 Faulting application start time: 0x0x1DB40947D9E4E5F Faulting application path: D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Path of Exile\PathOfExileSteam.exe Faulting module path: C:\Windows\System32\KERNELBASE.dll Report Id: 41d09cf2-1e05-4479-b96a-77925a7905e1 Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID: Seems to crash even if you are just idling in town. I have something similar happen to me for a few weeks now. I noticed that I get insane lags when changing zones. This includes that everything happening on the second monitor starts lagging or completely stopping while loading the zone. About 10% of the time, my PC hard locks with only the mouse being responsive at all. I tried changing from vulcan to directX, lowering settings, only playing on fullscreen or without anything else running on the PC, but the issue persists.

after receiving my new PC with an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, poe kept constantly freezing my full pc which was absolutely awful.
this solution below is working stable for now after 3 full days of tinkering. even remaking windows wouldnt have helped because... its actually a windows / AMD CPU problem. according to this article https://winfuture.de/news,144695.html (its german) i found out that windows was working on a fix for this together with AMD. but of course with PoE2 coming up i was scared i couldnt wait for that version to release which is why i was able to find out how to get the new working windows patch early. THIS KEEPS ALL YOUR DATA, THIS IS NO FULL WINDOWS RE-INSTALL, JUST A WINDOWS UPDATE. 1. register / login here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windowsinsiderpreviewiso 2. then follow these steps: https://imgur.com/a/U1odJtX so for now it worked flawlessly for around 6h of testing, no freezes, no crashing. i hope it stays stable. |

" I think you're a little confused, or perhaps I'm misunderstanding. The article you linked is from August, and it's describing the 24h2 update that went generally available in October. This is actually the offending update which is the root cause of all the crashes. Versions of Windows 11 up to and including 23h2 had no crashing issues, but they had lower performance than 24h2. In trying to "fix" the performance issues, Microsoft has caused system instability by rolling out their insufficiently tested code. I've to date not heard anything from any sources about Microsoft being aware of the current freezing issues. |

" MS have recently acknowledged an issue with ubisoft games and blocked the windows update if you have them installed. I'm guessing it's the same thing affecting PoE. Probably related to the scheduler changes they did that improved performance especially for AMD cpus. So hopefully there will be a fix soon. I haven't played much but some quick testing after the latest PoE patch might have fixed the issue in my case. Too early to say it could just be luck or coincidence but I haven't had any lock ups when zoning since. Keeping my fingers crossed the issue won't be there in PoE2. https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/microsoft/microsoft-halts-windows-11-24h2-update-on-pcs-assassins-creed-star-wars-outlaws/ Last edited by asmo#5843 on Nov 29, 2024, 8:06:44 PM
