whats special about the league mechanic?
as the title says: what do i get special this league? i think i read somewhere i can put unique mods on rare gear, is that true? wondering if i can make couple of rare replica dreamfeathers... kinda bored of campaign and all the pointless changes, so where is the carrot?

runesmithing for rare weapons
https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Runesmithing along the entire town system which gets quite rewarding if you put some work into it. Guess it's also special cause it's something fresh as a league mechanic Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.

There is the opportunity to Runeforge weapons of any type, adding an enchant modifier from a fixed pool of options that are fairly powerful.
In addition, a new chance to get Recombinated gear, though it appeared in sentinel first, it never went core, and there's no telling if it will again. Though not truly 'special' (i.e the things it can create must on paper, be pre-existing), but it's a very different method of crafting compared to what exists and has the ability to make pretty high end items in the right hands. Several uniques are currently league only, with no telling if they'll go core (though it's likely they will) Lastly, a bit of novelty in its mechanics, though not an in game thing, the experience of the progress cannot be replicated elsewhere. There's less 'new' this league than others in terms of its mechanics rewards. This league has focused more on the synthsis of old concepts brought back and unified into a diverse set of systems. I think at this point, every past league mechanic, other than Corpse Crafting and Crucible Trees, has found some way to be accessed once again. IMO it's very fun to level up the town but the rewards aren't worth the time invested. The highest tier rune crafts are very expensive and it would only be worth putting them on your final endgame weapon. You can get someone else to put the runecraft on for you if you don't want to mess with the town.
Some interesting runesmithing crafts I was looking at (rare weapons only, no Replica Dreamfeather): Bow - Burning Enemies you kill have a 10% chance to Explode, dealing a tenth of their maximum Life as Fire Damage - EA ballista ignite, more explodes (not that you need them) 2h sword - Has (50-100)% increased Elemental Damage No Physical Damage - this is LOCAL so you can get 3k EDPS weapons Wand - Haunted by Tormented Spirits - does it release tormented spirits? Dagger - Socketed Vaal Skills have 100% reduced Soul Gain Prevention Duration - perma vaal skills, dunno the use case 2h sword - Attack Projectiles Return to you - molten strike 1h sword - +2 metres to Weapon Range - sounds cool with dual strike since it only looks at the weapon with the longest range you have Dagger - Chaos Damage with Hits is Lucky - double damage with Replica Alberon's |

" Thanks for the correct, shouldn't post at 4 AM. |

" some of the mods/enchants/whatever DiabloImmoral mentioned look a lot like one mod taken from crucible tree - looks very powerful. i liked crucible a lot since i couldve upgrade uniques in even more special way and even for rares there were special mods. i think they may keep those enchants rather than return crucible trees. recombinators are super cool too and i love those double/triple fractures... idk if you can still do that. |

thanks all for the replies.

the enchants are exclusive to the league mechanic
there's nothing else that's special |
