Verisium smelting bug

Bug report reference: 3293192540

When I have nothing to smelt, for example Petrified Amber, but have smelters on it - they smelt Verisium Bars instead, when I have 0 Verisium Bar smelting workers.

This makes it hard to micromanage, to keep Verisium Ore (which is very rare to me still) when it gets smelted by non-Verisium workers, I keep not being able to advance my upgrades because they require Verisium Ore and as soon as any ore is done smelting they just start smelting Verisium without me asking them to.

Not a bug.
You will have to remove all workers from all ores to completely stop smelting until you save up for the upgrade.

So stupid when you NEED ORE for the Upgrades not bars.

This is a CLEAR design bug and the test team should have flagged it Pri #2
Having the same issue as OP. Day 3 now of smelting nothing at all because I can't lose Verisium ore I specifically need to save for upgrades.

Please just allow any upgrade that costs ore to use bars as well, like shipping bonuses do. Then the smelting would be a non-issue.

I agree with that,

This is the current stock I have, two smelters on amber only, Verisium is smelted too fast.

At least if this design has to be kept, verisium should not be smelted in parallel, smelters should empty their initial task BEFORE going back to slots they're not assigned to.
it is a bug and if you denying it than explain why do you even implemented smelting segregation? In case of official explanation you will just need blacksmiths which will smelt all kinds of ore without assigning to specific ore
I have the same problem... i've been trying to collect enough verisium to upgrade my dock but even after taking all smelters off of that ore type it still gets processed as fast as i can mine it. i even put every single miners on it in hopes of outpacing whatever default smelting might be going on but i can't.

so i've been trying, but unable to upgrade my dock for the last two days, despite having found plenty of verisum - the fact that i can't control this is kind of irritating, the fact that they can't use processed ore is as well. both at the same time?

i have found a work-around... taking all smelters off of the ore type doesn't work, but if you actually move all of your smelters to "idle" then all smelting does halt. this should enable us to get our upgrades done.

must be related to how they implemented the bonus smelting speed, idk... super weird but whatever. this works for now.

If this is by design, then why if I assign smelter to crimson ore, Verisium is smelted in paralel but the same thing does not ocure with other resources like Bismuth?

IMHO it's a bug
