Whole PC sporadically crashes/freezes on loading screens - since 3.24 Necropolis League

I don't think CPU latency is my issue. It generally sits around 6 MS, and only in hectic situations does it go up a few MS.
I'll give it a look.
I have this problem (or something very similar) and it's driving me crazy.

Ryzen 5600X, 3080 GTX, 32GB RAM.

* Only happens when changing zone, and usually not immediately - it'll try to load for a few seconds, then the GGG starts to grind to a halt, and then it freezes.
* Happens on any zone that I can tell - maps, Kingsmarch, town, hideout, etc.
* Happens when levelling and at end-game.
* Only happens on loading screen. It doesn't happen when I'm playing or idling.
* If it doesn't happen within the first 10 minutes, I can usually play for hours but it has still frozen rarely after a long play session.
* Whole PC freezes, and won't accept any keyboard inputs (ctrl/alt/del, win + L, etc).
* If you don't have focus on PoE window at the time when it crashes, you can actually move you mouse around, but it's extremely lagged. If you try to press ctrl/alt/del at that point, your cursor disappears and you can't do anything else and you have to do a hard shutdown.
* Nothing in event viewer at the time of the freezes.

Here's some snippets of my Client.txt just before a freeze. One from this morning when I was trying to load into a desert map, and then another from the other day trying to get into the Sarn Encampment.

I get events related to ActorVisualSizeInformation (Failed to create effect graph node) and TalkingPetAudioEvent just before a freeze.

Tried the following:

Fresh install for Steam client
Fresh install for non-Steam client (different SSD to the Steam client)
Using DX11, 12, and Vulkan
Using different characters, with and without MTX
Changing all types of graphics settings from mega low to "ultra"
Turning off all background applications and programs
Disconnecting any USB devices like controllers, headphones, etc
Uninstalling MS GameInput and disabling the service
Updating all drivers for system and graphics
Downgrading graphics driver to previous versions
Updated OS (Windows 11, latest release on beta channel)
Removed PoE folders from AppData and My Games
Ran Small FFT tests on CPU, memtest on RAM, and drive tests on all system drives - no issues

Other games work fine with no issues ('basic' graphics games like Balatro, and also intense games like BG3).

I am out of ideas.
The benchmark should not fail..there are older programs like HDTach that still can test NVME drives correctly nowadays

The damaged blocks as result of usage and age: It depends, you can check at Crystaldisk "Total NAND Writes" and "Power On Hours". Values like 8500gb and 10k hours are possible to reach without damaged sectors

Disks only fix errors related to their internal processes, otherwise they would cheat you saying the disk is good. Windows can do it, but there are cases with "good" blocks (almost dead) that are producing errors and the OS use them anyways :P

So 2 damaged drives? Seems unlikely: yes..but its possible. They are from same brand, model (EVO) and probably use the same faulty memory chips. You can test the disks on another computer to have sure they are really damaged

You can test your SSD disks using the free version of HD Tune v2.55. Do a Benchmark and look for dips in read rate, or a Error Scan to see if there are damaged sectors

I posted further up with similar issues (if not the same issue). Been testing more things, and the only option I didn't try in graphics options was engine multithreading. Turning that off has stopped the freezing (been around a day or so without any freezes), but the game only runs on 1 CPU; it's playable, but not at what it should be. Does it stop your freezing also?
Check your core performance boost, aka turbo boost settings, in the BIOS. I had the same PC freeze on the loading screen until I enabled my CPU turbo boost on ryzen 5 3600.

Both drives have errors. The "Media and Data Integrity Errors" raw values should be only zeros like 000000000. The 500gb disk looks worse because of "Good 97%" and not 100%. For some reason crystaldisk thinks they still good for use

I posted further up with similar issues (if not the same issue). Been testing more things, and the only option I didn't try in graphics options was engine multithreading. Turning that off has stopped the freezing (been around a day or so without any freezes), but the game only runs on 1 CPU; it's playable, but not at what it should be. Does it stop your freezing also?


Honestly, I didn't really test the Engine Multithreading option all that much. It lowers my FPS to around 50 even in my hideout, and it feels absolutely terrible to play with. I would rather accept sporadic crashes than play like this all the time.
I am currently in contact with my SSD manufacturer for warranty claims on my drives because of the errors I encountered so far. I will have to wait and see if they swap my drives and if that fixes my problems. I will update the thread when I have more information.
