Bug Reports - Mac client on Steam crashes when loading character - Forum

Looks like the "cannot connect to instance" bug is fixed now. But the game still crashes on any character load; standard or league. Client.txt has a ton of errors about loading monster models. These crashes were also happening yesterday the few times I could login. I have this problem and what's weird is it's about timing. You need to open the client, log in, and select your character quickly, but not too quickly, and you can successfully play. Buggiest thing I've seen in a major game. If you're too fast, the game crashes. If you're too slow, the game wont let you log in to your character and complain about server issues. I found it also has something to do with the local filesystem and settings. I crashed when going into options and opening the loot filter directory. After that I removed all my local loot filters. Now I have a little dance that seems to get me into the game reliably. 1. Start game, do not login, go to options and set loot filter to 'Default'. Save. 2. Now login, go to options, and set the loot filter to 'None'. Save. 3. Try to load/create character and fail with connectivity error. 4. Exit the game. 5. Restart the game, login and load/create your character and it works for me. Strange thing is that after all this, my loot filter is still set to what it was the last time I got into the game successfully. (Edit, the loot filter changes seem unnecessary. I tried all of this, and no luck :( . I was playing on Macbook M3, and loved the new boat league, but now I just can't log in anymore, and after having bought so many stash tabs! So disappointed, I reinstalled the games so many times, tried all the tricks, and just won't log in any more, and if it does, it crashes. ...and, it's baaaaack. Ughhh! I've had zero problems for over a week, so I played for a few hours this morning and then logged out for lunch. When I came back, the client just crashed and crashed while attempting to load a character after login. Exact same symptoms as before. If the client doesn't crash (rare), it gets lost in network limbo where you can't login until you restart the game, then it's back to the same old crap. To me, this seems like a semi-unpredictable failure due to an unexpected interaction between the client and the server. There have been no client patches recently, but every once in a while this problem re-spawns. That implies a server-side change is triggering the failure mode. Even if the server is doing something technically legit, the client is not handling it. But what do I know? Last time I was able to escape the death spiral by deleting my production_Config.ini, but no luck with that workaround this time. I validated the game files via Steam. PLEASE, GGG! Can the Mac client get a little lovin' here??? It's been well over a month of this shite, and it has seriously crippled one of the more enjoyable leagues in recent memory. We're already dealing with 5 fps refresh rates (on an M1 Mac) and disabled performance features (no multi-threading, no dynamic resolution).
