Vulkan Proton crash on Linux
After the July 26th update the game crashes when trying to open with Steam Proton on Linux (previous patch worked fine):
vk::createInstanceUnique: ErrorExtensionNotPresent Please share with graphics team, Client.txt log: https://pastebin.com/4hRBbSGz Last bumped on Nov 13, 2024, 11:33:30 PM

+1 cannot play the game at all. How would I switch to directx without opening the game? Reinstall?

Fails at same point in client.txt for me, albeit Radeon RX 7900 XTX. It will start if you edit your production_Config.ini and change renderer_type=Vulkan to renderer_type=DirectX12 (performance will be far worse though).
(edit: that ini is in your home directory in a location like:) .steam/debian-installation/steamapps/compatdata/238960/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/My Games/Path of Exile/production_Config.ini find $HOME/.steam -iname production_config.ini Last edited by sihsah on Jul 26, 2024, 3:42:21 PM

" Thanks for this workaround, the game launches now |

Seeing the same here, also AMD (6800XT).

DirectX12 died for me in lioneye's watch so going to try DirectX11 (*puke*).
edit: trying dx11 (which does work but man it is stuttery) Last edited by sihsah on Jul 27, 2024, 3:53:34 AM

It’s not a Poe problem, your distros are outdated. Works fine here on CachyOS (arch based)

" No it's not, I'm on Arch and I did -Syu trying to fix this. That didn't work. It was "fixed" for now by changing the renderer to DX12. Last edited by inoka on Jul 26, 2024, 6:17:28 PM

If you have vulkan-tools installed you can check the output of:
> vulkaninfo --summary This will give you a list of supported vulkan instance extensions.
Spoiler
