New Vaal Pact and 'Increased Maximum total Life Recovery per second from Leech

Serious question: How are you supposed to survive things like traps or burning ground with the new Vaal Pact? If damaging something is literally the only way to recover life you're completely screwed by tons of mechanics which don't allow you to be attacking something every second.

That's the funny thing, you don't.

The general consensus from experienced build creators is that the new vaal pact is terrible and in fact impairing your build while also wasting skill points in the process.

It probably needs another rework for the 6th time (it's been changed this many times according to the wiki). There's far too many degens and on-death effects from monsters for it to be viable in the game's current state.

If these mods don't work for the new Vaal Pact (which it sounds like they do not), then this should be addressed, otherwise all the leech notables in the skilltree are effectively useless for VP which would be a massive design oversight.

Right now I could only see VP being used on extremely high attack speed builds.

Even having those modifiers be 'applies at half-effectiveness for leeches that are instant' would be good.
There is no possible way for those modifiers to apply instant leech. Those stats raise the maximum per-second rate leech can recover your life, and instant leech already breaks that limit. It is applied instantly, which is effectively having infinite rate. For that modifier to apply, the leech would need to respect the maximum rate which they raise, and then it wouldn't be instant.

Those modifiers are still useful for people using Vaal Pact if not all their leech is from melee damage, such as builds using Molten Strike.

What does having leech rate apply to instant leeches do in your mind?
The thread was regarding raising the maximum cap of instant leeches. Vaal Pact renders most nodes on the tree useless, hence why they should have some effect for VP, aka being changed to from "increased maximum total life recovery per second from leech" to "increased maximum total life recovery from leech".

Vaal Pact is pretty much useless in it's current form. You already have the massive penalty of losing regen and life flask functions, as there is probably three dozen forms of on-death effects and ground degens.

There is no "maximum total life recovery from leech" for them to apply to - saying these stats should apply to a cap that doesn't exist would only be negative for players because it would mean imposing that cap on leech so there was a cap to be raised (and total recovery amount of leech isn't something that's reasonable to cap in the first place - you'd just leech until hitting the cap, and then leech would just stop working because you'd leeched as much as you were ever allowed).

There is, however, a separate stat capping the amount from a single leech, and the stats that raise that cap, such as "X% increased Maximum Recovery per Life Leech" do already work with Vaal Pact to raise the amount each (instant) leech can recover.
