Death's Oath (Death Aura)
It is nerfed once more with one of the only way to get multiplicative damage onto the skill, Non-curse aura from you skills on Enemies, being effectively removed from the game. With the cluster and specific banner nodes being moved, I think the only source of this is Revelry now. This thing needs like a 2000% damage increase to even get through yellow maps at this point lol.

Death's Oath could use a rework in the mechanics.
something like Death Aura deals x% of reserved life as chaos damage per second. self found league fan

Wow chat, it got a 30% buff, maybe even because of this post lol. On the top end it's probably still a nerf this league, assuming you would go all Master of Command megalomaniacs and minion damage scaling being one of the few ways to scale it's damage similar to Corrupting Blood skills.
Just to mention a few more things that have impacted this skill since it's last change in 3.14, because if this was the reason it needs way more of a counter balance to prop it up from it's neglect over the last 3-4 years: Immense generic Aura effect nerfs (in 3.15), and then those clusters became small too (later?). This actually used to be a despair build before the despair rework, when it was a completely different multiplier for us when it still had cursed enemies take more DoT damage, in 3.20 with that rework top end DO builds received a nerf of over 90% due to that change with no compensation. Anti-aura sentiment and Timeless Jewels have also had their impact as they've kinda constantly been pulling away from DO's damage profile, I haven't kept up with all the hidden changes, but there used to be 15% aura and like 30% aoe aura nodes and minor nodes on vaal timeless, but that's been significantly reduced as well since 3.14. The 2000% number as not an exaggeration, the body armour has gone through a beating. And even all these random benign changes league after league have continued to hit non-ailment dot, curse, aura, and every sort of avenue Death's Oath was able to cheese out some viability. Yet the skill retains it's 0.1-0.3% player base due to how the skill feels to play. People love the 0 buttons pops, it just might need at least a bit more of an uplift so people don't just use it as some filler skill for their dot bow build. |
