Will POE2 have gender locked classes too?

Hello everyone! I just heard that this game will be coming out with a sequel. It got me excited since I couldn't get into the first one despite multiple tries, mostly due to it having gender-locked classes. However, I've heard here and there that the second will be the same. Is this still true?

Thanks in advance!

"Classes" in PoE1 don't really lock anything. You can use any ability or any gameplay style with any "class" to some degree of success. Ascendancies generally provide bonuses to certain playstyles, but in PoE1 a build largely has to balance bonuses between offense and defense, and you can generally pick defensive ascendancy bonuses and then get the offensive power of the type you want elsewhere on the passive tree or through cluster jewels. In that sense, PoE1 doesn't have classes, it has characters, each character has some amount of gameplay flavor but doesn't restrict what you can do with them.

And ya a lot of the gaming community as a whole doesn't understand the concepts of RP, immersion, or cosmetics. Asking a question like this is alien to them, because they just make a "unit" and call it something droll like "fartface" and run around killing things without any sort of attachment or connection to their character in the world. They don't understand the idea of being uncomfortable or disconnected from a character that doesn't appeal to them. They somehow fail to realize most games these days, including PoE, make their money from people who do care what their characters look like. I only play female characters, my friend only plays witch characters in this, neither of us have any issues here with any sort of restrictions because of how free you are to make your own builds.

PoE2 may not be the same, so far what they have shown from the "classes" suggests there is a great deal more gameplay distinction between them. Some things may truly be class locked there, they at least have been giving off that feeling which is one of many reasons I have not felt any interest in PoE2. As somebody else mentioned though, they might be doing character gender swap MTX in the future.
