anyone else think magic find items should be deleted?

im talking about magic find not damage 2 completely different things

The problem isn't magic find. The problem is being a magic find character and able to solo juiced T16 map successfully.

But that requires some amount of dedication and from what i can see from youtube videos they die all the time while looting etc. and they usually have gear which is already beyond what most players will reach in one league(so mf is kind of pointless at this point and it is just for the lulz or to have trophy items in standard)

It is nowhere near what it was in Diablo 2 were mf actually made sense, because the gear was cheaper than what you would find while mfing.

Mfing juiced maps(with a lot of quantity) is not something that you just do is my point, it seems to be kind of hard to set up for and requires huge amounts of currency and time spend.
mf in d2 was one of the worst features of the game. it was a almost mandatory meta stat that promoted gimping your character in order to increase the number of drops per hour. it is in a sense the same in poe, but since they removed quant from the generic mod pool it became far less accessible which is GOOD. i think any form of magic find stat on gear is plainly bad game design, but people claiming it was better in d2 are delusional

It just needs a suitable tradeoff, MF as a build archetype is rich and adds character to a game it just shouldn't be add this item tier, put tornadoshot / KB on and go clear blaster maps at blaster speed.

They need clever itemisation requirements and a reasonable penalty for the tradeoff of a loot multiplier.

That's a double slam dunk right there.

He's talking about how it's silly to say others shouldn't have something when he doesn't, drawing direct comparison between your comment and his. It's a fair comparison too because the factors that affect someone's ability to output damage can relate to MF; legacy affixes, items and most importantly, currency.

Then the second slam dunk is that you didn't even notice this.

Reminds me of that South Park episode Bebe's Boobs Destroy Society. Where bebe asks her mum what 6x8 is and her mum replies, "Oh sweetie, those are two completely different numbers."

i think MF is just a terrible concept.

the whole point of a looter game is finding stuff and then you use the stuff to make characters. but when you wear mf gear you find more stuff, so its just better, but why are you finding stuff? if you use this other stuff you find then you will find less stuff because youre now not using the mf gear.

its just stupid as a concept in a game where your build is so dependant on gear and the point of playing is to find things. its basically putting enjoying different builds and playing the builds you want to play, using the items and mechanics you want to play in a tradeoff situation against the motivation to then play your character which is finding stuff.

well if you wanna find more stuff which is what everyone wants to do then you have to play with this gear and a build that works with this gear not the builds and gear you want to play wtih... oh these fun decisions!

no, its not a fun decision its stupid and shouldnt be in the game.

On the other hand you can also run a Wandering Path tree that doubles your IIQ, IIR and Pack Size on a build that doesn't have any MF gear and get very similar results while still running T16s

Many budget MF builds run lower tier maps because they cannot live through red tiers, or don't have enough DPS to effectively clear them

MF, essentially, is a tradeoff.
The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.
a shit tradeoff.

either its not worth it, in which case theres no point in it existing, or it is worth it in which case it invalidates having all those other builds and other bits of gear because its not worth using them.



its a stupid mechanic that should not exist.
