Trial of Ancestors going core?
idea looked cool, however the implementation is lacking at best. sadly its another range league mechanic. im at around 400 rank i think and good luck surviving that with melee if youre not jugger. have like 50k armor/evasion and something like 15 phys as elemental and still get oneshot.
i can only compare it sanctum, but there atleast you couldve gotten those relics that give inspiration every time you get affliction, slap in some more dps and youre good to go. i can hardly imagine surviving ancestors with any amount of investment on melee builds. chris shouldve mentioned we need to get our bow characters ready... what i like is the uniques - body armor is cool, shield looks okish, dragon fang is really nice and rakiata sword is also quite strong. tatoos are nice, but most i like the chancing unique idol since it would save me huge amounts of clicking in std.(got the perfect emperors vigilance from crucible) |

" crucibles rewards was overwhelmingly good that i stuck around for crucible. crucible wasnt "too bad". it could be salvaged but i d rather have it banished to the void. tota's reward is good but exists in a way that GGG could rebalance them or take them out of the game entirely. i still dont know if they will be retained into standard. either way i m fine with it. i really dont like the mechanics. enough. having to stand still and channel imho is bad game play design. its not fun, its not engaging. ggg already "solved" this many years ago by having "stand in circle to power it" mechanic which exists before the brine king and in labs. charging was no fun in crucible its definitely no fun in tota. I'd be nice to have it as a core mechanic not only for the tattoos but also for a alternative to maps to enjoy.
But let's be real boys, it's just alpha concept testing for PoE2 so don't expect much lol. Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.

This league needs a serious rework. Right now its all about avoidance, everything at my rank 1-shots me. Thats 1khp/6kes 100% suppression, 30k evasion, ghost, 80 AR, 75 chaos. Even debuffing with 3 curses and blind. If I get clipped by anything I will be 1-shot. 50k bane tooltip dps and 50k blight dps and I can barely kill the weakest hp (spear dancers?) I cannot rely on my flankers without my support (even sages/field masters brick up), if I get chained killed its a loss guaranteed. The mechanic would be universally panned if they did not buff the rewards. | |
Its really only that one guy that is waaayyyy overtuned. Not only does he have the best defence with turtle but also one hits me over and over. And all his minions go full attack. Combined best defence and offence. So broken. I pretty much loose 8/10 of his fights while having much less problem with all the others. The other ones are fair in my opinion.
That being said, tattoos and omens are pretty lackluster. I wish some of the omens were permanent as long as you have them in inventory, like the portal one. |

I'm enjoying the league and the tournament. It's fun and it's different from the normal routine. It's a stand alone part of the game that doesn't need to be part of the atlas which is also nice cause it doesn't require changing of the atlas at all. Tattoos are great and open up new ways to build characters which is always welcome. Playing in the tournament doesn't take very long per match usually. Allows you to grind something that doesn't take very long if you only play a few matches, I like that as well. Nice little fun game that you can do on the side if you choose to. I think it's great. I would like this league to go core, I think it would be a good addition to the game.
For a while now lots of leagues have not gone core. With sanctum going core and hopefully ancestor it just refreshes the game with new things and others ways and options to grind which is always welcome in my opinion as well. Lots of players are still asking for Ultimatum to go core cause fun league mechanics are just enjoyable. Ultimatum is still missed after so many leagues of being gone. | |
" I couldn't disagree with this more - Sanctum was mostly bullshit to play as melee, and full on 110% bullshit to play as slow aps melee. You can win trials with anything. You don't even have to kill the mobs. Trial is the most build agnostic mode ever made, or is at least tied with Blight for that distinction. |

" I hope so, it is a great league. I love that you don't need to build a mirror-tier suit to run it. GGG went sideways instead of upwards with the development. It's also a different playstyle than usual. More like "tag" than "throw mirrors at the superboss until you win." I approve. |
