This game and poe2 will NEVER EVER hit a million players period.

Really good games are rare today. But the big mass prefer no-brain games. Other we shouldnt have all those mobile apps with crap and people pay hundreds of dollar to dig to level 80 and get more gold so they can develop and dig to level 81, then buy more in game currency and so on.
Diablo 4 follow that concept that more players are better than better games. I don't even know if its possible to have a good game and lots of players. It should be but ... I havnt read or listen so much about PoE2 but I saw listened to an interview ande it seems like they want to do it easier to understand. "A lot of people has a body gear today with 4 green, 1 red and 1 blue and then upgrade and get confused why it doesnt have the same color ..." Something like that so it will not be a problem anymore. Next thing is similar and then the mass have killed the game even if its brining in more money. The skill tree is a good idea and has worked. Doing that "easier" will attract more players but make the game worse (most probably). They should have a hidden skill tree that are somewhat randomgenerated - and you should only see one or two nodes from where you are, and so on. Marketing, graphics and other "crap" is were a lot of devs put the energy. But I think its a hard balance between survive and make enough to develop and to get a good incame, get lazy and give all players the opportunity to play. I mean, the one that wants to do least is where all could play the game. Its hard to farm the best body gear. Its hard to trade it ... Then we all just start with it because people "whine". But we will see what PoE2 has to offer. But if my nagetive side is spoken I think it will be a game that does not attract all that made it possible to develop - the PoE1 fans! |

POE still has 100% way more players than my favorite most underatted game " Planetside 2 ".
The fact is Baldurs Gate 3 is a mostly single player game, so just like Elden Ring's last game the hype will die. & some will find POE, theirs only so many top down games & while their not all the same, aka turn based vs zoom, they still draw similar types. As for D4, they're having trade dupe issues right now, then later are probably gonna ruin their game with p2w shop items. If not some other reason to ruin the game, I mean it's made by Diablo Immortal team. They already have lackluster season patches. People already label the game as a mindless grind. People are already over D4, it's only a matter of time till more & more of them leave to what else? Ye leave to POE. & it's already happening, I've seen 10 people say they were from D4 and I've only logged into this season for a few minutes, since I've been on POB still. Essentially " exiles " of D4 to POE. D4 is steps away from being treated as if it was Lost Ark. I seem to believe they announced D5 so early, just from the fact that they knew people were leaving D4. Else to stupidly compete with POE 2. When they probably haven't even started making D5 kek. Either way it's lame to announce D5 when D4 is barely trending not too far from day 1. Also in this age with so many games available 150k is still A LOT of people. Baldurs Gate 3 may have 800k, tho their gonna drop down to 150k soon enough, then less than that seeing as it's not a true multiplayer game. So for POE to retain 150k for a 10 year old game is probably more impressive than any other 10 year old game out there. Besides WoW, tho everyone's been bored of WoW since 2009, well except a few months of 2019's Classic. & the dev ratios? D4 with 9,000 people working on the game with POE 1 which has 8 devs & the rest working with POE 2. Yet Diablo 4 reminds me of a generic korean grinder, who lost touch with D2 art department, while POE stays true to the D2 art style. & to say POE 2 won't hit a million, that's a troll response, theirs nothing for POE 2 to compete with? Even Blue Protocol has supposedely P2W elements & is too grindy. D4 projected to get worst. So what is the POE 2 rival? POE 2's rival is essentially just making the POE 1 players happy till. heh. I'm done waiting for a good mmorpg with a full skill bar for the past 10+ years. Never got into Final Fantasy. Played too much Planetside 2. Just quit Team Fight Tactics game after 2 months. Now I just play seasons once awhile, so I get to take a break and go outside by quitting a season here and there. So POE is also a better game than a mmo for those who don't want to sit every month of the year, get a good break half the year. I still wish POE 2 has some mmo elements, still is a season game, just with mmo element skill bars & Lost Ark type knockdown hit air pvp animations. Best of everything. 100 people towns with hang out fields. Witcher taverns. Free hair style options. IRO War of Emperium gvg map. https://clips.twitch.tv/ChillyFrailLobsterPMSTwin-jQe3D4Yt2ZttgsdA https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/15cetf5/new_frigid_bond_support_love_u_guys/ Last edited by RuneLuthien#3437 on Aug 20, 2023, 4:44:16 PM

Think I’ll stick with the impression I got at Exilecon - which is that GGG is an incredibly passionate group of developers trying to make the best ARPG they possibly can, full of interesting content and deep character customization.
Whether or not they hit a million players with their launch - that comes down to marketing. D4 was a hugely profitable pile of feces. Why? Because of the marketing riding on the Diablo name. Elden ring is openly hostile to casual play but it was a cultural force. Marketing again. Convince enough people your game is going to be good and they’ll join in and bring their friends regardless of whether or not it actually is good. Your prediction looks bitter more than anything else. I get that a lot of people weren’t pleased by the PoE2 gameplay demos but this doomerism is just silly. |
