Why do i keep seeing people saying don't use alchs until T6 maps?

the only thing you are interested in for T1-5 is atlas completion, and higher tier map drops neither of which require rare status. Also getting good drops in T1-5 isn't really a thing, its possible but far less likely than farming at higher tiers.

I think it's because streamers don't really bother with white maps.
To get the atlas passive points, transmuting them is sufficient. Streamers don't farm white maps, and honestly, it's usually not necessary to do so. Moreover, with an alch you're much more likely to get a mod you can't or don't want to play. The only reason streamers play white maps is to get the Atlas passive points - so just complete these maps with the least effort necessary. If YOU are not playing like a streamer, your mileage may vary. Perhaps for YOU it is good to also alch white maps. Bird lover of Wraeclast

In a league I
1. Don't want to run out of alchs prior to when I 'need' them for progression because then I would have to stop playing the game and trade for alchs 2. Don't want to alch into a mod I can't run or a map that is going to be too hard to do - then I would have to invest a chaos orb into it, or a scour alch, or trade for another copy of what may be my only copy of that map as everyone else said its advice for beginners, may apply to vets I adhere to it b/c my time spent in white map progression is like .01% of my total play time so the downsides of 1 and 2 carry more weight than the upside of alching 16 maps and getting 40% more loot. |

" Hello. This is the progression and we don't waste currency Early. Full completion for maps: White Maps: no Currency needed for completion bonus. Yellow maps, Alch for completion bonus. Red Maps, Alch then Vaal for completion Bonus. (rare + corrupted). Of course you don't want to waste your early currency and you should be saving it all for those red maps. You will be buying Vaals and alchs if you are not selling the maps you have completed already. However, if it takes you 4 days to get into red maps you may or may not get the same trade pricing for selling those maps... This is how you start to snow-ball. Higher Tier maps will always provide better loot and more of it compared to a lesser tier map. I know what I am talking about One sad Exile

Depends on the league, I guess. Some leagues gives you so much alchs through league mechanics. In other leagues, you can starve on alchs for quite some time.
Also depends on your build. Maps can be hard to come by in the beginning, at least in some leagues, and if you play a build that is weak to a lot of map mods, you'd rather run them blue. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

While it's true that you get better loot out of higher tier maps, you don't lose a lot by spending a few alchs on white maps. Is it required? Not really, but it's also not going to really set you back a lot unless you play SSF and starve on alchs without trading being a thing. But in trade league you can do both just fine, run the maps via alch or just as magic. Worst case you hit a unplayable map for your build but even another alc and scour won't hurt you a lot. You will finish your atlas just about the same time both ways I mean if you fully care about just currency you've already lost the league day one by doing your atlas prog instead of full time market pvp lol. Specifically it says "WHY DO I KEEP SEEING PEOPLE SAY DON'T USE ALCHS UNTIL T6 MAPS". They aren't asking about being a hideout warrior they are talking about getting map drops and progressing through the atlas to get those "big ticket items/currency/div cards"(I assume). He/She Specifically asked for the answer I gave it. Up to them to decide what to do with the info. Even selling all your completed duplicate maps while you go higher and higher in tiers. You are still going to be lucky to have 100 alchs to blow not to mention the Vaal Orbs needed to get the map competions on the Red maps. One sad Exile

I usually league start a reflect immune character like slayer. In SSF I like to save my alchs for when I need them for map completion starting on T6. I can run unidentified blue maps which is basically like running a terribly rolled yellow map.
