0.10.7 Patch Notes and adjustments to Season Two Race times
Of course I don't have enough spare time to play computer games. I'm just saying, there is a 4 hour gap around my optimal play time. 8,9,or 10 pm would all fit better. For people with limited time it would be great if there were some races with flexible start time and fixed duration on play time

Well Im disapointed..... again.
After throwing the towel in with the horrible race times in season one, I had a small hope that S2 would be better.... oh well. I will just stay away longer. I always said that I'll keep supporting a game as long as it keeps supporting me. Looks like I'll wait to see how S3 turns out, although I dont hold out much hope. Gatesy

" Yes, 8pm would be better. But again, for other players that would perhaps turn a good race time into a bad one. I do not like the flexible start times in general, as it would not be a live race. Perhaps it could be considered to give each player 1-2 signature events each week that the player could then complete whenever he or she liked. The result would then only count towards the overall signature events ladder and not towards a single race. That is the only way I can imagine races with flexible start times. " THanks! The game does not adapt to you, you adapt to it.

Here is a better idea for races:
Have each race-queue* at the evening of every timezone. If a player participates in a race (let's the say the third one of the race-queue), he is restricted from doing that race in the other timezones, but is free to do all the others of that race-queue. *= What is a race-queue? A race-queue are all scheduled races for that day. With day being the time-span when the current race-queue is finished for all time-zones. |

" Your timezone has events at 8pm and midnight - what times would you prefer? | |
the time zone is kinda annoying, there will be always somebody not happy with that (in London UK time a working person can choose either 6 pm, which is hard to make, or 10 pm, which is sometimes too late in terms of 2-3 h long rances for a mid-week day). I can imagine that for people in the continental Europe the 7-8-9 pm is easier to make, while the 22-23-00 are a bit of a pain in the backside (for working people at least).
As soon as you move times for one race, someone somewhere else will start complaining. I like the the idea of giving people like (for example) 5 h period during which people have 3 hours to start their 2 h race. IGN: AlCohonez, GhengizCohen Last edited by piotras#5522 on Apr 18, 2013, 7:20:29 AM

I live in a GMT-3 timezone, and work from 8AM till 6PM (2 hour lunch period). So I can only do 2 races during the week now, the ones after (S02E020) - 6PM and before (S02E027) - 12AM.
Before I could kind of do 2 races in the week if the race that started at 11PM was one hour. Anyways, it would be good if race times could be more distributed, but I know that it is difficult and that this events are exactly to determine the best race times that accomodates the majority of the player base. Since I'm not sure how many GMT-3 players you have I can't complain much. There are races at 9PM which I will be able to participate, and the races that happen in the weekends I can participate as well. Great fun, hoping for some 7PM GMT-3 and 10PM GMT-3 races in the future. |

" I do agree with him, the races, how they are structured are in a way that you don't need to do them together with everyone, you can actually queue race events and allow people to have a lobby area where they queue for a race event, this way the player can form a party of people and start a race event. The downside is that the current mechanics for demigods awards would have to either change, or be awarded at the end of the week or something. Let's say a race when posted has a start time, and 24h to 48h queue period. So the demigods would be awarded at the end of the final tally, and you would allow only one participation per account. Of course, someone with multiple accounts might keep trying to do the race over and over to have the highest score, and that might be bad for PoE, because of the server load this might cause. If only the signature events could be queued, this kind of account switching would be denied, since the prize could come from consecutive racing or something. I do think that this mechanic would be tied with the custom/private league mechanics, so I think we won't be seeing this anytime soon in the game, I just leave my suggestions here and I hope they are picked up. |
