Now that PoE2 is a separate game, when will we get the promised gear socket revamp / fix?

but were getting that? its called poe2, when you add all these revolutionary systems to poe1 you end up with poe2, and theyre giving us poe2, we can play the game with this new system.

if you revolutionise the socket system you then have to revolutionise the skill gems to match it and then you have to revolutionise the item system because so much of it now has mods that effect socketed gems.

you will destroy vast amounts of items worth countless mirrors in the process, fundamentally destroy many peoples characters. it will make the game better, but its revolutionising many game systems to do it which completely changes the game and trashes a lot of things people currently have that they put a lot of work into.

isnt the entire point of leaving an unpatched version of poe1 separate that they dont add these revolutionary things that will fundamentally change the way the game is played and destroy what people have in poe1? you want this system because it will mean you can play the game in a different and better way, the only reason poe1 is being left as a separate entity is specifically to not make the game play in a different and better way surely?

its like when we see posts saying reset standard, delete legacy items from standard league etc. the whole point of standard is that its not reset and people who want things reset and current have the current league. surely people who want this new socket system and all the changes that bring are getting it, and its called poe2 and thats what they should be playing?

maybe you might not know or may have forgotten. POE2 was announced to bring improvements to POE1 WITHOUT wrecking POE1 gear.

players were told that they could use their old gear in poe2.

asking for standard/legacy wiped is weird, why do you want to take something away from people.

i do agree that GGG has to rebalance many mods which CAN wreck mirror tier gear, but i already have a solution for that.

have an NPC available to allow items to be converted to poe2 gem system.

legacy poe1 items such as bringer of rain which gives us a 7L can be converted by the NPC so that it has POE 2 sockets but rebalanced so that you dont end up with 9L gems.

isit a huge undertaking? yes. it definitely is. but thats on GGG to deliver.

also, many of us CAN understand the need for POE 2 to be separate. we still wont be happy but we could have swallowed it better IF ggg came up front about it much earlier. instead we got 5 years of silence before ggg finally dropped the bomb in the latest exilecon.

theres always a solution. theres always a way. my solution is logical no? that way if you wanna keep your mirror tier items but have the item stuck with the old poe1 system it can still be retained.

It's clear that, between Exilecon 2019 and Exilecon 2023, the development of PoE 2 as a separate but connected campaign for PoE 1, with some quality of life improvements for the main game, gradually grew to something GGG simply couldn't resist turning into a sequel. PoE 1 could've had the new socket system, weapon types, animations, and skills, without becoming PoE II as it has now been presented. However, the opportunity arose to take additional ideas which had been brewing in the background, such as the massive changes to crafting, the introduction of Ruthless game elements, and everything else which marks a significant departure from PoE 1, and make an entirely new, separate game.

And I just don't think GGG cares about PoE 1 anymore, or what it needed four years ago, and still needs. Much as I'd love to see the enhancements we were promised, I just don't believe GGG will invest the effort to deliver them. =-[.]-=

the current linking system needs just one thing: make the 6-link chance higher.

thats it

cut it in half or something and suddenly the linking system IS there, is costly (750 fuses for guaranteed 6-link still sounds obscene) but isnt trauma inducing experience when you throw 1000 fuses at a chest and end up with 2-link

other than that current implementation is good enough to move on and actually fix issues that DO exist (like melee having shit damage? because how otherwise anyone can explain Boneshatter being played while mechanicaly stronger skills like Static Strike - not? oh, it is 2-3times the damage that makes a difference.. oh my!)

btw what is with POE eating more cpu/gpu power than RDR2 on ultra? have i missed RT options somewhere? what is going on?
