People who can play the game without over heating your pc want kind of config do you have?
I was curious about that, for exemple I have a '' i7-7700 '' Sure its not new but its not some middle age stuff either. Yet my pc is over heating with minimum graphic.
Also got a GTX 1080 Also feel like it should be enough. Why am I still here Last edited by Warvald#4362 on Jul 25, 2023, 2:22:06 AM Last bumped on Dec 12, 2024, 1:28:16 PM

just don't use a stock cooler and watch a video for properly applying thermal paste

You shouldn't overheat at all even with the quite old components on minimum settings.
Sounds like either your setup is not properly cooled, or you are just (un)fortunate with the weather in your living place as hot days also heat up your pc some. Or maybe it's time to give the ol pc a good cleanup as a collection of dust can also cause higher temperatures. There are also various tools to check if your cooling system works properly as well. But besides that what do you define as over heating? Normally your system would just permanently blue screen anytime it's too hot. Everything below 85°C is just fine even for a old 1080. Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun. Last edited by Pashid#4643 on Jul 25, 2023, 3:02:16 AM

So I did a bit of research if I got it correctly and if what I've read isn't bs its perfectly normal for my gpu get to 84C and there should be no risk.
If I got it wrong feel free to tell me. I assumed I was over heating because it was higher than something I saw earlier. Why am I still here Last edited by Warvald#4362 on Jul 25, 2023, 3:16:29 AM

" cpu overheating it will trottle or shut down. If not, its then fine |

cap framerate at 60

" Sounds legit, especially since 'old components' are less efficient and produced more heat than newer and faster chips. " yup, as long as you don't mind the life span/2.. because thermodynamics are still a thing, unfortunately Edit: i would also recommend familiarizing yourself with re-flow procedures if you are planning to run an older card at higher temps... you know, just in case. no game ever overheats my gpu or cpu and i always play with vsync off if you get overheated you need better fans or more fans in pc case
|
|
" sadly, some older cards might overheat even if the hardware monitoring reads 'low' temps. happened to my old EVGA on the power rail side. One- there was no sensor, two- there was no interface between the MOSFETs and the heatsink. Since then i changed my perception on 'card manufacturer doesn't matter' thesis. |

Proper ventilation is something you really need to have when it comes to PoE. CPU throttling will happen quickly, especially if you're on the best Intel 13000'.
It's going to be hard to perfectly balance the air pressure in your case, though you don't want your GPU to exhaust into your AIO cooler, that's for sure. - Do some research regarding how to get the most out of your fan orientation. - Re-apply new, better thermal paste - Clean your fans cannot do their job properly if they're clogged - Do not used compressed air on delicate components - Do not have your bottom intake fans directly on a carpet (if you have bottom intake) - Adjust your bios and/or fan software for your fan control - Make sure there's nothing wrong I'm struggling to come up with new goals to keep me playing this game.
