We have also identified the cause of the stuttering that occurs when new types of items are dropped for the first time. I'm hoping we'll be able to get a fix for that into this patch as well.

Is that the same kind of stuttering I often get when (certain?) mobs spawn or a necromancer rezzes a skellie for the first time etc?

If so: Woot!

Probably unlikely, he specifically mentions items. If you're getting lag in those scenarios, I think the only thing that will help is a new fast hdd or even computer. What are you specs?
Great news and the fixes sound awesome too. Optimized memory usage for all =) ~thumbs up~

I don't know my hardware specs off-hand (at work, sry :( ) and while my comp is already somewhat aged, it is still capable of running games like Skyrim (high settings, 100+ mods + texture upgrades), Wither 2 or Diablo 3 without trouble or lag spikes. I would have thought that's enough for PoE.

No, the lag spikes I mean only occur when specific things happen in game. And not ALWAYS when they happen either. It's like the first time a certain mob group spawns, the first time a certain effect occurs, the first time a mob is rezzed by a necromancer etc.. a short 'thought-pause' happens. (I figured this was known so I didn't bother posting about it before. :/ )

We have found a problem that has greatly contributed to the memory fragmentation issues that some users were encountering (where it says "Out of memory" during long play sessions). We're optimistic that this change will substantially improve that situation.

This is the best news of all.

indeed. no more "Crossing fingers it doesn't crash" when changing zones.

and a skillpoint reset comes just at the right time, as my planned build didn't really turned out to be that great. <3 love you guys!

Like when you summon your own skeletons for the first time in awhile? I get that sometimes

That issues seems to be related to caching/preloading. I know they've done a lot to fix these things throughout the beta, but some certain actions still have the stutter issue. I get it when summoning skeletons the first time in an area. I used to get it from the old 0.9.2 Shock Nova effect.
Closed Beta/Alpha Tester back after a 10-year hiatus.
First in the credits!
Is this the patch that will have the 3rd act?
good work.
See you in cutthroat!

...and if you have one beta key left, i have a many friends that are waiting to play PoE.
